These Easy Apple Dumplings using Mountain Dew (or Sun Drop!) and Crescent Rolls are our favorites ~ so simple and just delicious!
Easy Apple Dumplings with Mountain Dew
It's been years since I've made this recipe for apple dumplings, but something reminded me of it the other day (pretty sure I was dreaming about apples . . . ), so I decided I need to make it again for dessert.
My husband was pretty pleased that I did. Pure deliciousness, and simply crazy what works together to make this easy apple dumplings recipe work so well.
Ingredients:
- apples
- crescent rolls
- butter
- sugar
- cinnamon
- mountain dew OR sundrop (either works JUST fine!)
{Note: You could use Mountain Dew, Sun Drop, or any citrus soda for these easy apple dumplings. Mountain Dew just happened to be what was on sale at my grocery store. I've used this before with Sun Drop and turns out just as well.}
You'll want to start by peeling, slicing, and coring out your apples. This is probably the most time consuming part of this dessert. Once that is finished this easy apple dumplings recipe comes together very quickly.
Then, wrap a crescent roll around each apple. This will make your “dumpling”. Be sure that you pinch your edges so that the apple is covered completely.
Place each apple in your 9 x 13 baking dish, leaving a bit of space between each one.
Melt your butter in the microwave, and then stir in your sugar and cinnamon into the butter until well combined. Pour the mixture over the crescent rolls and apples.
Then, you'll take your citrus soda and pour it over the crescent rolls and the butter mixture. Be sure to completely cover all of your dumplings.
Cook in the oven for about 35 – 45 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly then enjoy these easy apple dumplings!
