This homemade ranch dressing costs just a few cents to make versus buying the name brand in the store – plus you know EXACTLY what is in it!
Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix
This homemade pantry staple might be my favorite so far since it’s one I tend to reach for time and time again. Making this ranch dressing mix at home saves you so much as the name brand in the store is sooooo pricey! This homemade version costs pennies and we penny pinchers are all over that!
Here’s how to make Ranch Dressing Mix at home:
Ingredients
- 3/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp seasoning salt
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Directions (Easy Peasy!) 😉
- Mix all ingredients and store at room temperature in a plastic bag or container. This recipe equals 1 Ranch seasoning packet.
- Or store in the refrigerator or even the freezer!
- Use 3-4 tablespoons in place of 1 dry Ranch seasoning packet.
Want to make this mix into a pourable dressing? Blend 1 cup milk, 1 cup mayonnaise and 4 tablespoons Ranch seasoning mix together with a whisk. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes to allow dressing to thicken. Stir before serving. 🙂
If you prefer to make a bigger batch, quadruple the recipe and store in an airtight container. The 4 oz mason jars with lids or the 8 oz mason jars with lids work perfectly for this recipe.
So simple and I’m betting you have all the spices to make this homemade Ranch dressing mix in your pantry!

I don’t think the measurements add up. It says the recipe equals 1 packet of dry ranch. But then says to add 3-4 tablespoons to equal one packet of dry ranch. The recipe only makes maybe 1 tablespoon of mix though. Are the measurements supposed to be in tablespoons?
Thanks for letting us know! We may need to go back and look at how much this makes. The measurements are right for the recipe but not sure it’s enough to make the equivalent of 1 packet. I would make enough of the recipe to have 3 Tbsps to use for whatever you’re making. Hope this helps! 🙂
The recipe only adds up to 3 3/4 teaspoons. There are 3 teaspoons in one tablespoon. So I’m not sure how you were able to get 3 tablespoons of mix from the recipe as written.
You can always triple the ingredients to get the amount you would need. A standard packet is 3 Tbsps. so just make enough for that. Thanks for mentioning this. I will definitely mention this to the team! 🙂
