Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray Paint Makeover – SUCH a Difference!
Edgecomb Gray might just be my favorite paint color after testing it out a few weeks ago! I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to share this little paint makeover with you. I just love the power of a little fresh paint!
My niece Kelley just got married and lives in the cutest (um, big!) townhouse, but wasn't quite ready to commit to new furniture. She'd never painted before, so my daughter Caroline and I headed down for a little mini makeover in a weekend.
Painting is one of those tasks that is so easy to do, and you really can't mess up. For around $50 you can transform an entire space in just a few hours, and the worst thing that can happen if you don't love the shade you paint is you just paint one more time. There's no reason not to go for it!
She and her husband kept debating purchasing a new couch, but since they aren't sure how long they'll stay in their townhouse, I suggested maybe we try to figure out how to make her space work without making a major purchase. Couches are expensive, and if she got one that wouldn't work in her next home, she could easily waste as much as $2,000 on furniture that wouldn't work for more than a few years.
We debated nine-bajillion paint colors at least, but one of her coworkers recommended edgecomb gray and it was simply perfect.
So what type of gray is Edgecomb Gray? Warm? Cool?
I'm so glad you asked!
Edgecomb gray is kind of a nice creamy gray – it leans warmer than most gray shades, and worked perfectly with her woodwork trim. (Her trim is ever-so-slightly off white. She debated painting the trimwork too, but I encouraged her to stick with that shade for now. Otherwise she'd have to paint all the trim in her home, and that's a heck of a lot of trim!)
We did decide to purchase a items to fluff up her home without breaking the bank. We picked simple furniture that could easily move with her and match in any space along with a few brighter pillows, and after a weekend of painting, her little project was done!
Here's what we purchased:
Arm Chair from At Home (very similar to this one)
Large Wall Clock (similar to this one)
Several cream colored pillows from Target
Small table from Home Goods (Home Goods is the best!)
So are you ready for the full makeover?
YAY. . . we're finally to the very best part!Â
Before . . .Â
After . . .
This was taken right after we'd finished painting with the edgecomb gray paint. She's ordering shelves to add to the walls to finish up fluffing a bit!
If you've been struggling with a space and aren't just loving it, goodness, consider just changing out some paint. We really did love the Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray and I would paint that shade again anywhere ~ if you're looking for a great color, this one might just be for you!
Have you painted any color that you've loved lately? If you're looking for a few more favorite paint colors here are a few other favorite paints we've used in our home (Sherwin Williams Romance, Foggy Day & Pure White are a few of my favorites!) I'd love to hear YOUR favorite colors too ~ leave a comment to share!Â

We will be getting new cupboards in a medium grey. Would this color match? Floor would be a good match.
Brooke says
It would probably go really well together!

It looks so good!! I love the accents that you chose and it is a good flow throughout the room. What wooden shade did you use for your window in the living room and where did you purchase? Thank you!

My husband did not believe me that greige was a thing. Lol

It looks amazing. I recently painted using platinum grey by Benjamin Moore. It looks similar to the paint color you guys used. Maybe a tad bit lighter.

A realtor told me to paint every wall Agreeable Grey (Sherwin Williams) that he had sold dozens of houses that just covered every wall in that and the existing furniture always looked great, no matter what color it was, so I did it in every room in my house. He was right! It looks great in every single room.
Shari says
Yes!!! Our contractor suggested Agreeable Gray and we’ve used it now in two houses. It’s a brilliant mix of tan and gray and takes on a different hue depending on the lighting. Very versatile!
Emily says
I love the way the space turned out! It looks like a completely different room! On a side note, what was the previous color called?
I love a light color, I just painted my whole house in agreeable gray, but I struggle finding non-neutral colors that I like.
Y’all did a great job!

I have no idea, it was on the walls when she moved in so we aren’t sure! Sorry! We are over the moon happy with how it turned out!!
Johnna says
The blue is very similar to what I have on an accent wall in our living area. It is Denim by Sherwin Williams.
Christy says
Oh, we were choosing between Denim and Distance for our hall bathroom…. we ended up choosing Distance. I hope we love it!!!!!!!
Laurie says
We hope you love it too Christy! 🙂
Sue Smith says
We chose Distance in an exterior paint for our trim, garage door, front door, and security door. We love it!
Laurie says
Thanks so much for letting us know Sue! 🙂
Ashley says
Emily, check out Brewster Gray. It’s called gray but looks more blue. I’ve used it and a friend liked it so much she used it too.
Angie says
Love this! We’ve been looking for lamps…do you happen to have the direct link for the table lamp shown? It’s exactly what we’ve been looking for!
Kristen ~ PPP Team says
I’m sorry, I don’t. I linked to the one that was closest but I couldn’t find the exact one! Sorry!! We are so happy with the lamp, it’s so perfect for the space.
Ginger says
I used aesthetic white by sherwin Williams. It turned out exactly like I was hoping. We had our floors refinished to Jacobean and the contrast is perfect
Laurie says
I bet it’s beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!!
