Root beer floats are already a nostalgic treat, but these open-can floats give them a whole new level of charm.
Open-Can Root Beer Floats
There is just something so fun and nostalgic about a good ole’ root beer float, isn’t there? We’re a little bit soda-obsessed in my house so when I saw these open-can root beer floats I knew we had to make them STAT.
These are the cutest treat to make and are so easy to make but seem so fancy!
My husband and I recently made a batch to drink on the porch during our weekly at-home date night, but these are also great for backyard BBQs, family game nights, or just to whip up for yourself with a book.
Here’s how to make them!
What You’ll Need:
- Mini root beer cans
- THIS can opener – the magical tool that removes the entire top of the can (leaving a smooth rim, not sharp!)
- Vanilla ice cream
Optional but fun:
- Paper or other decorative straws
- Whipped cream
- Maraschino cherries
How to make open-can root beer floats:
- Using THIS can opener, carefully remove the whole top of the can, turning it into a little soda cup.
2. Pour a little bit of soda out of the can into a separate cup (or sip it, no judgment here) so you can fit the ice cream inside.
3. Scoop 1–2 spoonfuls of vanilla ice cream right into the open can.
We love using the mini cans of root beer, because they make for the perfect portions!
And there you have it! The cutest little open-can root beer floats! You can switch it up with Coke floats, or “Purple Cows” (grape soda with ice cream) if you are in the mood for something different.
Give them a try and comment below if you do, we want to see your float game!
