Ingredients
- Tart apples (like Granny Smith)
- Brown sugar
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Orange juice
- Lemon juice
- Snickerdoodle cookie mix
- Melted butter
- Chopped pecans or walnuts
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
How to make snickerdoodle dump cake
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray an 11×7-inch baking dish.
Start by peeling and slicing about 8 medium apples (you’ll need 6 cups sliced). In a large bowl, combine 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 sugar, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Toss the peeled & sliced apples in this mixture so that everything is evenly coated. I like to use tongs to scoop and toss the apples around.
Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Next, grab your Snickerdoodle cookie mix. The boxed mixes come with a cinnamon-sugar packet inside. Combine the cookie mix and cinnamon-sugar packet in a bowl or measuring cup, and sprinkle over the apple mixture.
Drizzle the top with 1/2 cup melted butter and chopped pecans. Here’s where you don’t stir – even if you want to! Just pop your baking dish into the oven and this cake work its magic.
Bake 35-40 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve warm with your favorite toppings. This cake is great with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on top!
