Hi there! Michelle here! I participated in a mini-makeover with Lowe’s and let’s just say my mini-makeover turned into a bigger makeover on my home than I initially intended. Oops! We have been in our home for almost 19 years now and raised 4 kids here and it really was in need of a little refresh. I wanted to share with you a few things I did and some before and after shots.

It started out as just a primary bedroom and main bathroom refresh. Above you can see the before pics for the bedroom and below is the bathroom we re-did. We had an ugly yellow Tuscan-like tile on the walls around the bathtub/shower and a vanity that was falling apart. In our bedroom our carpet was embarrassing. I’m pretty sure that the dogs had quite a few accidents on that carpet and probably my kids too. Let’s just say when we tore that up it was not something I wanted anyone to see.

We did all of the demo work ourselves and it was much, much harder than I had dreamed up in my head. I do have to say there was one tool from Lowe’s that was game changing though. This Kobalt pry bar was a huge help! I highly recommend one of these if you are going to be doing any type of renovation on your home. It’s great for pulling baseboards up and nails off the baseboards. Also was a huge help pulling the carpet tack strip up in the bedroom and down the stairs.
Below is some of the demo that my husband, my dad and I did. That was fun at first when we started but sure got old quick. We tore out almost 3 bathrooms, the entire living room, hallway, 2 bedrooms, mudroom, pantry floor, kitchen floor, stairs! By the way, tearing out carpet on stairs is a good 4-5 hour task and not fun. At all.
Here is a list of the items we got from Lowe’s:

The bathroom was so much work to demo. The tub especially was very hard to get out of there but with my husband and dad’s help we did it. The to pull all of the old carpet up and tack strips. Baseboards off. So much work!

We just pulled our bed onto the plywood and it worked out fine. The whole process took about a month from start to finish, so luckily things went pretty smooth and we didn’t have to live like this for too long.

You can see how one thing let to another and soon we had all of the carpet out, old flooring out of the entire house and carried out to a dumpster. Then the wainscoting from the walls was pulled down which was awful to the poor drywall and had to be fixed. We had to hire someone to patch all of that because it would have not looked good if we did it ourselves.
One great thing is that I found my vanity for my bathroom in an open box sale at Lowe’s. It was regularly $799 but I got it for only $240 because you got to take an extra 50% off the lowest marked price! I love it so much!
Here’s the vanity we picked out. But remember we got ours on clearance.
We were told about these toilets where the sides are smooth/flat and make for super easy cleaning, so we grabbed 3 new American Standard toilets and I’ve never been so in love with a toilet!
Here’s a few before and after shots.

I’ll link to some of the stuff we picked out below but here are some of the progress photos and after photos.

Overall it was such a great experience and really pushed us out of our comfort zone but everything we needed we found at Lowe’s and it made it so easy because we could just order what we needed online and then use their curbside pickup and grab it that same day. Our flooring was from Lowe’s but the color we picked was a special order color so that was the only thing we had to wait on.

Here’s the stairs. I’m in love with how the stairs turned out. They are kind of pricey because you have to pay for the stair nose pieces then each stair also took 2 boards. But so worth it!

Below is the entry way and kitchen area after we tore out all of the flooring and the wainscoting.

Here’s the main living area with new paint and flooring and new molding.

A few more pics!

We didn’t have the money to do much to our master bathroom so we just floated the floors over the existing tile and I painted our vanity. Added some new mirrors and new faucets and called it good. Hopefully soon we can do the tile around the master bath and shower. But for now this is a huge improvement!

The flooring we had to pick up from Lowe’s and it took up so much space in our living room. I can’t believe what a huge difference flooring makes though. I love that the kind of LVP we picked out is also waterproof though! It’s from Smartcore and the color is Caldwell Oak.
Below left is our pantry. It actually once was a dining room we never used so we transformed it ourselves into a pantry because we didn’t have a pantry.

I’m in love with how it all turned out. Now I want new kitchen cabinets! HAHA! Just don’t tell my husband I said that. I promised I would wait a while. But I mean, who’s to say how long a while is? Right?
