So why did we even make Grocery by PPP? 

Since starting this little blog way back in 2009, the one thing I’ve believed so strongly is that there is no other area in your family’s finances that you can truly impact MORE than your weekly food expenses. 

Simply choosing to cook at home with a meal plan will completely transform your family’s finances, and at Passionate Penny Pincher we’ve spent the last 15 years looking for ways to make that easier for you.

As a busy working mom, I would spend hours planning meals, and eventually, we started making our magic meal planning boxes to help make that easier for everyone by creating a plan, and writing up a dry-erasable grocery list.

But the missing link was the grocery shopping piece.

Even with all we’d done, it would still take another hour or two to actually grocery shop (even with Kroger delivery, someone had to place the order!) and one day as I was working on my Kroger delivery order (that my friend Cheree helped me with!) it hit me that there HAD to be a way to automate grocery shopping.

If we can put a man on the moon, why on EARTH haven’t we made grocery shopping easier yet?

In September of 2022, I sat with my friend Holly who’d worked on the PPP team for just a short while, and she really felt strongly that her husband Bryan could help us knock this out. Because Holly is a mom with a boodle of (6!) kids 🙂 she knew just how badly moms everywhere needed this, and exactly what it needed to truly function well for busy families. We looked everywhere to see if anyone else had created this yet (because if someone was doing it, we’d rather support them – it’s been a ton of work!), but when we couldn’t find a grocery shopping option that actually did what we wanted it to do, we started working to make our crazy dream a reality for other moms just like us.

Holly & Bryan (and a few of their kids!) have been integral in making this a reality. Their high school son Malachi even made “Grace” (our Grocery Shopping Girl ~ you’ll see her doing the shopping for you when you try Grocery by PPP out!) and it’s been so fun to truly dream big on this crazy idea over the last few years.
