DIY Pumpkin Garland – From The Dollar Tree!
Laura, here!
It's finally fall, y'all! Well, almost. It's fall in my heart, even if the weather disagrees. So naturally it's time for all the fall decor, crafts, and DIYs!
I built these picture ledges for our breakfast nook a couple of years ago and I love decorating them with simple, seasonal garlands. So, when I spotted this cute garland from Athropologie, I knew I needed it! The problem is, it's way too expensive for my budget.
I created this adorable mini pumpkin wreath that is totally an Anthro dupe, but using supplies from the Dollar Tree! It's the perfect amount of color with neutrals mixed in and I love how it hangs on my picture ledges.
The best part about this Dollar Tree DIY is just how easy it is to create. It took me less than 10 minutes to make and I'll be able to store it and re-use year after year.
Here's how to make this adorable DIY pumpkin garland.
Supplies needed
I grabbed these cute mini pumpkins in the fall decor section at Dollar Tree. They come in so many different colors and for five pumpkins in a bag, you can't beat that price!
You'll also need string or skinny ribbon for the main backing of your garland. I had ribbon on hand for this, but you can grab a pack at Dollar Tree while you're there.
That's it! There is no sewing or even hot glue involved in this easy DIY – gotta love that!
How to make this mini pumpkin garland
Start by deciding what color pattern you want for your pumpkins. You could do all one color, multiple colors, etc.
Next, if your pumpkins have clips on the bottom, gently remove those. (My store had a clip-less option so I could skip this step but I've noticed these same pumpkins with a cute wreath clip attached – check your store!)
Lay out your string and start attaching the pumpkins. You can wiggle the stem loose a bit creating a small amount of space. Wrap the ribbon around the stem once, and then push the stem back into the foam of the pumpkin.
Repeat this step, making sure the space between each pumpkin is even.
Next, hand your garland! This DIY is just so stinkin' easy, y'all.
At this point, you've got a cute pumpkin garland. BUT, I decided mine needed just a little something…more.
So, I grabbed some velvet trim ribbon from my craft stash and made a few tiny bows. I used Glue Dots to attach the bows to the ribbon. Honestly, I would have done a bow in each opening but I ran out of ribbon – such is life! I think it looks absolutely adorable with the ribbon addition.
I'm obsessed.
You can make your mini pumpkin garland as short or long as you'd like, and hang anywhere! I used the same Glue Dots to attach the garland to my floating shelves. I love that they're easy to take down but stay up sturdily on the shelf.
