DIY Paper Garland for Fall
I'm just a wee bit excited about this little fall paper flower garland DIY.Â
I saw the idea on my friend Julie's blog, Less Than Perfect Life of Bliss.
Now, when I see most ideas like this DIY paper garland I think they're darling, but totally skip actually making them.
But I kind of became obsessed with this idea, and had to make it myself.
Items I used for this DIY Paper Garland:Â
- pack of paper (like this one ~ you could use any colors though that match your decor)!
- cutting mat with paper scorer to make folding leaves easier
- hot glue gun
- jute twine
To see the exact directions I used, go HERE and visit Julie's site. I did exactly what she told me to do, and while it was kind of time intensive (it took me between two and three hours), every time I look at my mantle my heart skips a happy little beat!
So I bought the pack of paper at Hobby Lobby for $14.99 – using my Hobby Lobby coupon -making it $8.99 for the pack ~ and since I only used maybe 1/3 of the pack this DIY cost me a whopping $3. Unfortunately, Hobby Lobby doesn't have those coupons any longer, but there are still a ton of ways to save at Hobby Lobby without it!
I mean really, other than my time, at $3 what did I have to lose?
Success.Â
I'm not gonna lie.Â
This one was a wee bit more work than I was prepared for.
I started one night around 9PM, and at midnight was cleaning up the mess.
Eek.
But. . .
I'm kind of in love. 🙂
(It kind of reminds me of something you'd see while riding the “It's A Small World” ride at Disney World. That just makes me happy!) 🙂
I also have this sign board from Amazon. (That one is actually no longer available – but there are some similar ones here). I love it too.
The carafe with wheat is from the Dollar Tree ~ have I mentioned lately I love that store? I found the pom pom wreath a few years ago at Home Goods and it's always my favorite.
Have you made any fall diy projects this year? I'd love to hear what you're up to!

Beautiful! Totally doing this in my decor colors!
Linda says
I love your paper garland! You’ve inspired me to try to create one myself! I will choose colors to match my interior and try to creat a couple of other shaped leaves to mix-in. Great job!
Bridgett - PPP Team says
Yay! Please let us know how yours turns out. 🙂
TC says
The way you set this up I was prepared for a seriously ugly craft but it’s seriously beautiful! The colors you chose for fall are spot on, I love how you brought in the green and teal colors as well and didn’t just make everything pumpkin orange for fall! Great job!
Bridgett - PPP Team says
Thank you! It’s super easy and fun! 🙂
Tammy says
Love this! Your next step is water coloring plain paper instead of colored. Great art project/craft for kids (or those of us who are young at heart)! It makes beautiful flowers or butterflies too!
Laurie says
That sounds like a fun idea Tammy! 🙂
Jan says
I tried this-cut out all the leaves and “strung” them on twine. That was my mistake. Hot glue would make all the difference. Mine just hung flat against each other.
Laurie says
Good to know Jan ~ thanks for sharing with us! 🙂
Nancy says
I don’t have a mantel or place to use it…maybe a stair railing?…but it’s cute. I am amazed at your energy and all that you get done in one day. You are an inspiration
Theresa says
I’ve hung garland across a double window.
Christy says
I love it Laurie! You are amazing woman!
Laurie says
Thank you Christy – it was so fun!!! 🙂
Jen says
THOUGH NOT MY STYLE…..UBER ADORABLE ON TOUR MANTAL!! I LOVE the wheat and board behind it….DON’T have a mantal to do this either. LOVE YOUR CRAFTS!!!
Laurie says
Thank you so much Jen – it is pretty different even for me but I really do love it! 🙂

Marti says
It is well with my soul also, I like it but doubt my hands could do that much cutting but..,,, might be a good distraction for my grandkids
Laurie says
Yes Marti – it wasn’t all that bad but did take some patience (but a good pair of scissors is a must!) 🙂
