Grilled Sausage & Veggies
When it is just TOO HOT to even think about turning your oven on, there is a secret super hero waiting to give your family the yummiest dinner ever – the grill! This recipe for sausage & veggies cooks perfectly on a hot grill, giving you a totally balanced, flavorful meal with minimal work and a nice, cool house.
Seriously, smoked sausage pairs SO well with these veggies, and this recipe doesn’t call for any funky ingredients or seasonings that you don’t already have on hand.
Whip this up into a little foil package, pop it on the grill, and dinner is done!

Ingredients:
- Smoked sausage
- Mini red potatoes
- Fresh green beans
- Yellow onion
- Salt & pepper
- Olive oil
- Butter
How to make sausage & veggies on the grill:
Start by chopping and slicing up your veggies into bite-sized pieces. Next, you’ll cut the smoked sausage into 1-inch rounds.
Meanwhile, preheat your grill to high heat.
On a large surface, spread out a BIG piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Pack in all your veggies and sausage, and seasoning with the salt, pepper, and olive oil.
Then, you’ll begin to wrap up the veggies with the foil, kind of like you’re folding a burrito. Leave a small space open on the top. Pour in 1/2 cup of water (this help to steam the veggies in the foil packet), and then seal completely.
Note: you may need to wrap with some additional foil pieces if your foil roll is small – that’s okay! My foil packet looked pretty ugly going on the grill but still gave us a yummy dinner.
Place the foil packet on a grilling sheet (like a baking sheet but made for the grill) or directly onto the grill grates. Grill for about 25-30 minutes, turning the whole packet over once halfway through.
Grilled Sausage & Veggies
Ingredients
- 2 14 oz pkgs smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 lb green beans, trimmed and halved
- ¾ lb small red potatoes, quartered
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp cracked black pepper
- 1 ½ tsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter, crumbled
- ½ cup water
Instructions
- Preheat grill to high heat.
- On large sheet of heavy-duty foil, place sausage, green beans, potatoes, and onions. Season with salt and pepper, drizzle olive oil, and top with pieces of butter. Seal foil tightly around ingredients, leaving small opening on top. Pour 1/2 cup water into opening and seal tight.
- Place foil packet onto grill. Grill 20-30 minutes, turning once halfway through until sausage is browned and vegetables are soft.
