Amazon's Fall Prime Day Sale (Named “October Big Deal Days”) is right around the corner – and we've already talked about theBEST Things to Buy on Prime Day. But what about the WORST?
We've spent 9 years covering Amazon's Prime Day events (starting with their very first one back in 2015) and have learned that a few things are better deals on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Generally speaking, we find these items are worth waiting for:
-
NON-Amazon owned TVs/Tech
We'll see the absolute best discounts on Amazon Prime TVs & device deals like Fire TVs, Echo Show, Fire TV Sticks, Kindle Tablets and more. While other tvs and tech normally see a bigger discount on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
-
Fashion Apparel
Brand like Adidas, Nike, Under Armour and more will have their own BIG deals on Black Friday/Cyber Monday that will beat whatever smaller discounts Amazon might offer on Prime Day.
-
Gaming Consoles
Other than Amazon Luna – most video game platforms and games will be a better deal on Black Friday, when retailers are depending on hyping those items to get shoppers in-stores (or on their sites).
-
Smaller 3rd Party Items
You may be tempted to buy everything that's been on your amazon wishlist while you have your credit card out on Prime Day, but be smart! Third-party sellers offering knockoff gadgets, housewares, etc often mark their prices way up before prime day to show a “big discount” during the event. We recommend getting the Keepa extension (or reference Camel-Camel-Camel) to track ACTUAL amazon pricing over time.
-
Large Appliances & Furniture
BIg household appliances (Washers & Dryers, etc) and Furniture is not normally a hot buy on Prime Day. They're known to go on sale more on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and other long holiday weekends.
More tips for savvy-shopping on Prime Day:
- If you're not signed up for Amazon Prime, start by getting a free one month trial when you sign up over HERE. You'll want to cancel your subscription at the end of the month to avoid paying the annual fee ~ I love Prime and it's worth it for me but definitely decide if you like it!
- Get the Keepa Price-Tracking extension so you can tell when a deal is really a deal!

Suggestions for a mini chainsaw. Are they worth the purchase and are they safe to use?
Best and safest for women to use. Thanks

Hi Diane! We have several mini chainsaw recommendations right here in this blogpost~at the bottom is a “Check out more mini chainsaws here!” link that will take you to a whole list of them on Amazon. I would check out the reviews to see which one is right for you! Several PPP team members have loved having one around. I hope that helps. 🙂 https://passionatepennypincher.com/mini-chainsaw/
