Valentine's Day Heart Cupcake Toppers
These pretzel heart cupcake toppers are the easiest and cutest way to make your cupcakes look more festive for Valentine’s Day! Wouldn't these be so perfect for Valentine class parties?
All you need for these edible cake toppers are melting-candy wafers, small pretzels sticks, and Valentine sprinkles. (Plus cupcakes—I used store-bought to make it simple.)
Supplies
In order to make these festive cupcakes, you’ll need these items.
- Vanilla Candy Melts/Candy Wafers (they have so many color options!)
- Parchment paper
- Piping bags (If you don’t have these, you could use a Ziploc bag!)
- Pretzel sticks
- Sprinkles
- Cupcakes
How to make Valentine’s Day cupcakes toppers:
1. To get started with this treat, you’ll need to melt the candy wafers in your microwave. Make sure to follow the package instructions for cooking times.
Melting Tip: Did you know you can melt the candy wafers directly in the piping bags? Working at 50% power and taking it out to check every so often will ensure you not melt the bag itself  Just pour the wafers into the bag and twist closed, making sure to not overfill. You can also stand the bag in a microwave safe glass or bowl to avoid spillage.
2. Lay out your pretzel sticks on the parchment paper with enough room to pipe the hearts.
3. In a heart shape motion, pipe the candy onto the pretzel. This takes a little bit of practice to get the motion just right so don't get discouraged if it's not perfect! They won't all look the same, but I think that makes them “whimsical”! At least that's what I'm telling myself! 😉
4. Then, I added sprinkles to the melted candy! Make sure to do this soon after piping while it is still soft. If you don't, the candy will start to harden and the sprinkles won’t stick to the hearts.
5. Finally, let everything harden on the parchment paper! Mine only took about 20 minutes before they were hardened.
6. Carefully remove the hearts from the parchment paper and stick the pretzel into your cupcake icing for a festive, edible cupcake topper!
There are so many different ways to customize these cupcakes! You could buy different colors of candy wafers, add valentine candies, or add edible glitter! Make them your own!
