Here's a cute and spooky twist on the buttercream board trend! This Halloween Buttercream Board is perfect for parties and so easy to make.
Halloween BOO-tercream Board
If you're planning any Halloween festivities, this fun dessert is a twist on the viral butter board trend and is perfect for parties and more. This Halloween Buttercream Board (or BOO-tercream…get it?!) features a cute little ghost made totally out of buttercream frosting paired with assorted dippers.
All you need to make this board is a piping bag (make your own using a Ziploc bag if needed), and a few fun snacks to be on your way! Here's how to make this Halloween buttercream board.
Ingredients Needed:
- Buttercream frosting – since I made a ghost I used white frosting, but you could do a bat or spider and use chocolate!
- Black and pink icing – I used a tube of black cookie icing and pink icing to make the ghost's mouth and cheeks
I picked a wide variety of finger foods to dip in the frosting. Here is what I used, and a few more ideas if you need some inspiration:
- Pretzels
- Milano cookies
- Caramel rice crisps
- Graham crackers
- Candy corn
- Fudge stripe cookies
- Strawberries
- Green apples
- Mini Oreos
- Sprinkles
- Pineapple
- Blueberries
- Pirouette cookies
- Wafer cookies
- Teddy grahams
How to make a Halloween Buttercream Board
Grab a large, flat board – a wooden cutting board works great! Transfer your frosting to a piping bag with a round tip. You can draw the shape you want to make or just freehand it. You don't need to use too much buttercream as most folks will only dip a little bit with each dipper.
Pipe the outline of your shape on the board and fill in with frosting. Smooth using a spatula or baking knife.
If you're making a ghost, add the eyes and cheeks. That's it! Then, you can place your dippers around the rest of the board.
This buttercream board took less than 10 minutes to assemble but is such a fun centerpiece for your table. This is great for Halloween parties or you can make a smaller version to treat your family with for a spooky movie night or snack on while carving pumpkins. Happy Halloween!
