DIY Ghost Shaped Cupcakes
If you're looking for a fun way to level up your dessert this Halloween, these DIY ghost-shaped cupcakes are so easy! You can even get your kids involved in the baking and frosting.
Halloween ghost cupcakes are perfect for Halloween parties, school celebrations, or just a fun spooky movie night snack with your family. Here's how to make this sweet treat!
Ingredients for Halloween Ghost Cupcakes
- Cake mix (you can make your own from scratch or use store bought. I grabbed an Oreo Funfetti that was so good!)
- White frosting
- Black icing (I used a tube of cookie decorating icing)
- Aluminum foil

How to make Ghost Shaped Cupcakes for Halloween
Start by preparing your cake mix as normal and adding to cupcake papers in a muffin pan. Make sure to fill the cupcakes only about 1/2 full.
Next, cut up aluminum foil into strips, and then into small squares. Take on square and roll it into a small ball (a little smaller than a marble). Repeat until you have enough foil balls – you'll use 4 per cupcakes.
Note: this was by far the most tedious part of these cupcakes and definitely where I'd enlist help from your family!Â
Place the aluminum foil balls next to each cupcake like below (creating space to make the head, two arms, and body of a ghost. I know it doesn't look like much but trust me!).
Repeat with all cupcakes and bake according to package directions or recipe and cool completely.
While the cupcakes are cooling, transfer your frosting to a piping bag with a large circle tip. If you don't have a piping bag, you can grab a set like this one or just apply frosting carefully with a knife or spatula.
Apply the frosting to the cupcakes making one movement for the head, one for each arm, and fill in the body of the ghost and gently smooth. Use the black icing to make the eyes and mouth.
All set! The cutest little DIY Halloween cupcakes to add to your spooky fun this year.
