Make This Fun Skeleton Candle with Dollar Tree Supplies!
Turn ordinary candles into spooky Halloween decor with this fun and easy DIY! This Dollar Tree Skeleton Candle makes it look like skeletons are lounging in a bubbling hot tub – so cute!
It’s fun to transform basic supplies from The Dollar Tree into something hauntingly festive. Use this creepy craft as a Halloween centerpiece, spooky bathroom accent, haunted house prop, or even a quirky gift for your Halloween-loving friends!
Materials Needed:
- 3 White Glass Candle Jars
- 1 Plastic Skeleton Garland (usually comes in a 4-pack)
- 1 Black Ceramic Bowl (or any heat-safe bowl that fits your vibe)
- Bamboo Skewers
- Rubber Bands
- Pot for boiling water
How to make a Dollar Tree Skeleton Candle:
Cut apart the plastic skeleton garland so you have four individual skeletons (I only ended up using two). Snip off the hooks at the tops of the skulls. Those are just for hanging and won’t be needed.
Melt your candles by placing the glass jars in a pot of hot water over low heat. Don’t let the water boil. Just keep it hot enough to slowly melt the wax. This can take about 30 to 40 minutes. You’re basically creating a DIY double boiler.
Once the wax is fully melted, carefully remove the old wicks. You’ll be reusing them.
Place the black ceramic bowl on a flat surface. This will be your “hot tub.”
Now, position the two skeletons around the edge of the bowl as if they’re relaxing in a creepy candle spa. I clipped a little bit of the shoulder joints (not all the way through) so they could sit more naturally, with their arms resting on the rim of the bowl.
Place the original wicks in the bottom of the bowl, trying to center them. Use bamboo skewers and rubber bands to help hold them upright temporarily.
Carefully pour the melted wax into the bowl around the skeletons until it’s about half an inch from the top.
Prefer scented candles? Just add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the melted wax before pouring.
Let the wax cool and fully harden. This may take a few hours.
Once the candle is solid, remove the skewers and rubber bands. Trim the wicks to your desired length so they’re ready to burn.
And that’s it. You’ve made your very own DIY Skeleton Hot Tub Candle!
