I decided to make the cutest pumpkin-shaped cheese ball to include on this board. It is SUCH a delicious dip and I think the little pumpkin is just the perfect touch. Here's how to make it!
Ingredients Needed for this Pumpkin Shaped Charcuterie Board
My favorite thing about charcuterie boards is that you can include your favorite flavors and pick a theme, color scheme, or just a best-of-the-best variety.
Head to the grocery store and grab some cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and crackers and you're all set.
I wanted a dipping cheese for this board and decided to make a cheese ball in the shape of a pumpkin. Here's the recipe I used – it is dangerously good!Â
Everything Bagel Pumpkin Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 green onions, chopped small
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together until smooth.
- Drop mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Wrap around, forming into the shape of a ball. Let chill 30-60 minutes to form.
- Unwrap and roll cheese ball into Everything Bagel seasoning, pressing a little to cover evenly.
- Re-wrap in plastic wrap and add rubber bands or string to the outside to create the creases of a pumpkin. Chill again for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from plastic wrap and bands and serve cold to maintain shape.
How to put this Pumpkin Snack Board together:
Pick where your cheese ball will go and place it – you won't want to move it later! Then, place all your other ingredients around. I like to play with my set up a bit until I'm happy with how it looks and have left little blank space. If you end up with a empty spaces. don't be afraid to fill in with nuts, berries, or seeds to achieve a full look.
What is the 3-3-3-3 Rule in Charcuterie?
The 3-3-3-3 rule is general guideline to follow to making charcuterie easy! In this rule, you'll want 3 cheeses, 3 meats, 3 starches, and 3 accompaniments to achieve the best variety.
To make a balanced board, you'll usually want to include a soft cheeses and hard cheeses.
Meats can include things like salami, prosciutto, summer sausage, or pepperoni.
Starches are your dippers – crackers, bread, pretzels, etc.
Finally, the accompaniments are the extras like fruits, nuts, pickles, olives, or veggies.
Note: I don't always follow this rule if I'm making a smaller board that just can't accommodate all of these items. But, it makes shopping for and setting up a board much easier!
