Many of you may have heard that Zaycon has suspended business operations as of today, June 25, 2018. At this point I'm not sure if this means that they will completely shut down, or if they are re-structuring (which is my hope!)
This company has been around for 10 years and has been AMAZING to work with until the last few months. I promise I'm working diligently to see what more I can find out, but want you to know how very disappointed I am about this for those of you who've purchased from Zaycon in the past. Several PPP team members have orders out, and we're all waiting to hear what happens next.
I honestly have no idea of any information beyond that, however here's what I'd recommend you try to do:
1 – Send an email to Zaycon questions@zayconfresh.com
2 – Dispute the charges with your bank, credit card company or Paypal
3 – Wait and hope they deliver
If you dispute a charge, that may take up to 30 to 90 days to get that money back. As of today there were still people receiving deliveries, so if you have a delivery scheduled and don't hear that it's been cancelled, I would try to pick up your delivery at your scheduled time (I'm crossing my fingers for you!)
Please know that I'm working hard to learn more, and I just hate this because I really have loved this company in the past. I'm hoping and praying that somehow this gets resolved and will update you if I find out more information.
Here's what she did to dispute the charges (thank you Staci!)
- Go through statements and find the exact charge on your account. For me, I could do this online with online statements offered with my bank.
- Once I found the charge, there was a way to expand that particular charge on my account.
- One of the options after I clicked on the particular charge was to dispute the charge ~ I clicked that option.
- More options opened up as a new window appeared. There were various options regarding why you were disputing a charge. I chose the option that I “had not received delivery.” Because my new date has not occurred yet and therefore was not an option, I used a previous date I was given for this particular order.
- From there it asked me to enter the date in which I had already asked the merchant for a refund. Because I cannot do that due to the website being shutdown, I chose yesterday and noted website shut down.
- My online bank then asked me what the response from the merchant was, and I entered website shutdown and phone numbers unavailable.
- I clicked on “submit dispute” and received a message that it was received and forwarded to the correct department so now I wait.
I had an order for cod that kept getting pushed back! :(. Bank said “no go—too long!” I also had an order for Salmon, and 2 orders of chicken breasts! Bank is trying to dispute them with Zaycon! Makes me sooo sad that they did it this way! They were advertising the chicken clear up until the day they quit!! . I was soo looking forward to getting my orders in the freezer! We have lived every item that we have ordered from them in the past!
yes my bank said same thing been over 90 days
Has anyone had any response to their email? I have emailed to get copies of receipts and breakdowns so I can dispute it with the cc but I have not had any response from them.
I’m out 289.85 and my bank (US Bank) cant do a dispute because it is 90 days since it posted to my account…I was supposed to originally get my bacon and pork in may (15th) then June 4th…it then got pushed back again July 11th and cancelled as of June 27th…I purchased the bacon and pork chops on Feb 27th and it posted to my account on March 1st…so I had until June 1st to dispute…its frustrating because I even went to the bbb and they couldn’t do anything because they are no longer at their address on file so there is nothing else i can do
I had two orders that were outstanding for $96.40. I contacted Bank of America on 6/29 to dispute the charges on my credit card. As of 7/3 the credit has been made to my account, even though one of the orders was clear back in January! Very happy to see how quickly they responded to my request! I had been happy with Zaycon Fresh until about a year ago when the hamburger I ordered was grey on the outside and red on the inside. One other order of jumbo shrimp was bad but Zaycon Fresh gave me a credit for that. I feel very bad for the people that have hundreds of dollars of orders outstanding that might not get their money back. Explain to the bank what has happened and they are usually happy to work with you.
I had one order of chicken at that 99 cents price. I ordered in February and delivery was supposed to be June, but was pushed to July 11. I filed a dispute with my bank on the 26th online. It really didn’t ask for much. I put the original June date at the date it wasn’t delivered. I just got the money back in my account! It’ not a lot but as other chicken is going to cost more, I’m glad to get it back!
I just contacted my bank today (PNC). I purchased on April 6th for delivery on July 18th which was pushed back last month until August 23rd. I received my email on June 27th of my event canceled and that they were suspending operations. I sent an email and tried calling that day. I gave it until today with no word back. I called my bank and they were able to provide a provisional credit of my amount as they investigate.
Hi Laurie!
So bummed here, too!
I have been working on this all week because so many are being denied their right to even dispute the charges. Even those that had their money returned are still at risk! I did research and talked to my financial institution this morning. A provisional credit is NOT a refund, which means we might have to pay that back. If you think this would be helpful, I would love for you to share it.

Address I found in my emails: Zaycon Foods LLC 2016

An interesting side note…I filed a dispute with Citibank Visa (Costco), they refunded my money, but noticed that it said “Conditional Dispute Credit”. I contacted them and they said that “a conditional credit is applied for the disputed amount while we work with the merchant to obtain funds originally paid to them. It becomes permanent if we are able to resolve the dispute in your favor. If the dispute is resolved in the merchant’s favor, the conditional credit is reversed.” So, I asked if Citibank can’t get their money back from the company, it will be reversed and I have to repay the money I was refunded? They said that was correct. So, I guess I will be watching the bill closely to see how this is resolved. Luckily, my order was under $40. Feel terrible for those who have hundreds of dollars worth of orders unfulfilled.
Have 600.00 worth of orders out there. Call cc company they are working with me. Just not a way to do business there are a lot of families out there having a hard enough time making it without this crap.
My credit union was firm that they can do NOTHING since it is 3 days past the 90 day window. They count it as 90 days from the date the money leaves my account. Period. Talked to 3 people there. No luck. Nothing they can or will do about it.
That’s the reason I don’t do business with local credit unions. My cc company just accepted a charge dispute from January of this year from Zaycon. As well as one from May. I’m so very sorry they won’t work with you.
I have at least $840 in 10 orders….I’m too livid to see if there is more.
I have over$500 of orders that will not be delivered. I filed a dispute with my bank, and hopeful to get most of my money back. Not sure about the ones over 60 days old. I placed an order only 4 days ago, they must have known it would never get delivered. Zaycon should have stopped taking orders.i feel bad for those employees that lost their jobs because of this.
I want to send a huge THANK YOU to truck drivers that delivered orders after being fired.
This is so frustrating-I was concerned when the postponed delivery. Fortunately, I paid by credit card and they seem to be working with me.
I got this from the VISA chargeback site: (see below)
I am going to call my bank with this information, since it says 120 days from receipt of merchandise or 120 days from being told you are not getting the merchandise.
https://chargeback.com/visa-chargeback-time-limits/
VCR Dispute Reason Code 13.1 Time Limit Modifiers
This formerly belonged to Reason Code 30
Chargeback time limits associated with VCR 13.1 can change if the merchandise or services were expected to be provided after the transaction processing date. But an issuer’s time limit to chargeback cannot exceed 540 calendar days from the transaction processing date. A resolution will be available within 31 days. But you can expect a chargeback to occur within these two time limits:
120 calendar days from the last date the cardholder expected to receive merchandise or services.
120 calendar days from the date the cardholder was told that the merchandise or services won’t be provided.
We ordered back IN February, moved 4 times, now obviously canceled. Can’t dispute with our CU as it’s more than 90 days old. Glad I had only ordered 1 case of chicken, so not out as much as many.
My orignal pick up date was 6/14 in Virginia and in May, I received a message that it was changed to 7/20. I have now received a text message about an hour ago stating that the 7/20 event has now been canceled. And the message says that the company is suspending business operations and to go to the website for more information. However, the web site been disabled and none of the phone numbers on the order confirmation e-mail work. Therefore, I have already contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. So dissapointed…
I have placed an order for bulk chicken back in February. Since then I receive at least four emails stating they were rescheduling my delivery date. I finally put in a complaint via their website in May and I was informed that they had an unexpected high volume of orders that they were working through. All of a sudden, I get a text an hour ago that my order was cancelled and they suspended their business operations. I have contacted my bank disputing this transaction. I also urge you all to file a complaint with your state’s Attorney General’s office as well.
Our last 3 orders delayed form 2-3 months but we were told it was because of high demand. Then a text today telling us the next two order dates are canceled and to go to the web site only to find out its two days after the fact and the website has been taken down! We are on a sticked budget ($75 a week for a family of 5 in California thats 3 meals a day and no we don’t get any help from the government), trying our best to get ride of debt and now having a couple hundred dollars just gone for what was the only meat our family planned on till January. Im at a loss and have no clue what to do.
Everyone needs to call their back ASAP. Especially if you use a credit union. There is a limit to how long you can file disputes. Mine is asking for emails from them and any communication proof to be sent in with claim.
I disputed my Zaycon charge from 6/11/18 for an order that was not to be delivered until 10/27/18…my bank immediately refunded my money!!! Please call your bank or credit card company ASAP!!!!
I loved this company, but it’s pretty damned sneaky to send a text today that they stopped doing business on the 25th…phone disconnected, webpage shut down…no way to contact!! Seriously?!! I have several hundreds of dollars of orders out to them.
I just received a text with the following message. “Your Hope Lutheran Church event from 10/30/2018 10:30 am – 11:00 am has been cancelled. We regret to inform you that as of June 25th, we are suspending business operations. Please visit https://www.zayconfresh.com for more details.” Needless to say the webpage can not be located. I loved their products and am terribly disappointed as I have recommended friends who were skeptical and I talked them into ordering. pissed
Just received 2 text on a order in July and October they were cancelled..
Said to visit http://www.zayconfresh.com for more detail.
Of course nothing comes up.
The only thing on the website is he same thing that has been on there since the 25th. No more information
So disappointed. We’ve been ordering from Zaycon for a few years now and have always loved their chicken and bacon. In the past, they did not charge my credit card til the order was on route, but this time apparently they did charge it. So I submitted a dispute. Hope I get my money back.
ST. LOUIS orders ARE being delivered today. I just picked up my cod and chicken wings in South County. I thanked the driver for being a “stand up guy” and gave him a tip. He had a good attitude, and was helpful as usual. I am assuming he will finish his St. Louis run today.
My St Louis order for today was cancelled, just got the message.
I’m sorry to hear that. I was assuming it was the same driver for all of St. Louis, and that he would make all St. Louis stops. Poor guy must have gotten fed up; it was hot, he was tired and wasn’t getting paid. I WAS rather surprised that the truck was even in the lot, when I got there this morning.
We are supposed to pick up 6/27 in Montrose. All together, I have $1400 in pending orders. i
One of the local gals here disputed her account with her bank even tho the charges were over 90 days old and called it “fraud” since they knew they probably were not going to deliver since they has postponed it twice. The bank will be refunding her money so you could try that. I suppose it depends on your bank and/or credit union. I had thought of ordering last time around but decided against it. Hoping for the best for all of you.
Called our credit card company and asked to reverse charges and reported Zaycon to the Oregon Department of Justice. I may not get my money back, but they should definitely be charged with fraud for soliciting sales just 3 days before they shut down. I have 1-3 emails per day, for the entire month of June from Zaycon soliciting sales. They had to know they were filing bankruptcy. That is certainly fraud. I did save all those emails in a folder for proof. This really makes me sad and angry at the same time.
File a complaint with your states Attorney General’s office ASAP, they have filed for bankruptcy which means it will take sometime to go thru the courts. The courts will file thru their assets and divide percentages according if there is any assets left. Sorry to say you may not get your money back or may only see a percentage. Make sure to follow up with your banking institution, if charges are not too old they may reimburse you all or a portion. This company has been in trouble since 2015. It has had bad BBB reviews depending on your state.
I have 13 outstanding orders (some that were delayed twice and never delivered) for a total of 846 lbs of meat (chicken, pork loin chops, cod, thighs, gr turkey, ribs, more chicken, salmon, bacon and sausage). I am out $1,042 and 27 cents. I am so angry that they were advertising and accepting orders and accepting payment this weekend including yesterday morning before they shut down. I am disputing my payment/charges through my bank; however, some of my payments were as far back as January for March and April deliveries that were delayed and never delivered. I am so disappointed. What is worse is that I had shared my satisfaction with my friends and co-workers who have also started purchasing and now they are out and I feel bad for recommending. So angry!!!! I read today that they have been in a law suit since 2016. They should have been more upfront and protected customers. This is not okay.
THis is awful. Loved the chicken and have been waiting for a chicken order and a Fritter order. Definitely going to dispute with my bank! used them for 5 years on various items. Loved Zaycon!
We picked up an order late Saturday, our driver who we have met dozens of times never said a word. I have $300+ in paid for orders awaiting delivery….fortunately on Cr Card so have disputed the charges so hopefully will not lose the money, but will sure miss the quality products we have been receiving via Zaycon for the last 7 years.
My driver sent out a great text this morning, asking us to not be mad at HIM, as he’s out of a job. He said since he already had a truckload of food, he would be making his deliveries today, working for free. He showed up on time and everyone was tipping him. I’ve already filed a dispute with my credit card company about my remaining orders. It’s really sad to see what looked to be a great company fall apart 🙁
I love that everyone tipped him! How kind!
I tried to dispute my charges, but since I placed the orders more than sixty days ago, I’m not able to dispute. I’m out over $200 worth of orders for chicken, pork chops, ground beef, and ground turkey. I should have tried to get a refund when they rescheduled these deliveries last month.
To everyone who’s saying their bank is saying you can’t dispute something more than sixty days later, has anyone tried explaining that the date of service was recent and that the order was “pre-paid”. Perhaps they will take that into consideration. If a debit card has the Mastercard or Visa logo on it, and it wasn’t as a PIN transaction, I would think the charge could be disputed through them? No? I would definitely not take the first no, and perhaps make a trip into the bank and speak with a manager and ask questions about the debit card process when it’s used as a credit card!
Good suggestion, Melanie, thank you!
BOA told me that it was 60 days from delivery so the shrimp I ordered in February but the delivery was pushed off until August was covered. I used my credit card.
I went to my bank to dispute the charges and I was told there is nothing they can do. One of the orders was from February 17 2018 for the shrimp I paid for to be delivered in Aug 24th. That order was pushed back one time. The bank did suggest I try the Better Business Bureau. I just think we are all out of our money.
LouAnn, your bank is full of it. Visa and MasterCard have rules that must be followed. You need to press the issue.
My bank told me that there was a 60 day timeframe to dispute and they pushed back the orders so many times that the window was closed. They took the dispute anyway so we will see what happens.
My bank said the same thing, if the payment was made over 60 days ago they would not even dispute the charge, which seems wrong.
It’s not just when the payment was made it’s also when the good are expected to be delivered. Bank of America was very helpful as the charge was January 2018 but delivery was scheduled for July 21st. So I’d push the cc company and/or your bank. There are laws to protect us consumers.
I contacted my bank and they said nothing I can do because it was a debit card except MAYBE contact states attorney or Attorney general or BBB 🙁 Makes me said they had big chicken!!!!!!
OH man….that’s what I am worried about. I had a friend who paid for their order with a debit card. 🙁
I used my debit card for purchase and I did receive a credit from my bank. Looks like each bank is different.
I’m scheduled to pick up my first Zaycon order in about 5 hours. I’m so so so glad I didn’t put in another order last week; I was this close to pre-ordering my next 40lbs of chicken, but I decided to wait until I saw how this was going to work. I couldn’t be more glad right now that I made that decision. I just hope I can get my chicken today, I ordered 3 months ago 😐
My driver said today they filed Chapter 11 yesterday.
I went to pick up my order this morning and no truck. and no email or phone text or call so apparently not all of the deliveries are making it through the 5th. I have chicken, cod, salmon, ribs, chicken wings and maybe others all paid for. Ugh. I hope I can get all my money back. Plus I had a Zaycon credit that I suppose I will never see.
Kristine
You should file a dispute with your CC for the amount you overpaid (as you have a credit likely because the order they gave you was less than what you paid for). Just file a dispute for the partial amount. Good luck!
Here’s a message from one of our readers waiting for their pick up – goodness, so thankful for AMAZING people like this employee!
“As you may have heard, Zaycon Fresh has suspended operations. As your ambassador for this are, I wanted to inform you that I am here making deliveries of the following items (Cod fillet, Bacon, Pork Loin, and Chicken Wings) My route completes on July 5th and all pickup locations/times between today and the 5th are still happening. Please come during your scheduled times in your respective locations. I apologies for any inconvience.” I wish I could hug the neck of every driver who offers that!
You can contact your state AG’s Office. I read that one person said they were still accepting orders yesterday, yet hours late shut down. That is simply fraud. The AG’s Office wants to see a pattern of deception. So we need everyone to file a complaint with their state Ag’s Office. You can often do online.
I have a delivery scheduled in 2.5 hours and still haven’t heard from them. This is infuriating!
I did get my Bacon delivery today but I highly doubt my 6 other orders will be here
Sandra,
Do you remember how many pounds come in one order of Bacon and how many pounds come in one order of pork chops? My bank is demanding to know before they will refund my money. Thank you!
If they had not shuttered their website, erased their facebook, disconnected their phones, etc. I might think they are trying to fix things.
Since they have done their best to disappear instead of deal with this I would suggest calling the credit card company and filing a claim.
This is so very disappointing. I picked up cod Friday and the lines were way longer than I have ever seen. Each time lately they were growing fast.
I was scheduled to pick up an order of pork loin chops this morning. I arrived at the designated pick up location and time. The truck was not there. There were several other people waiting as well. I have sent an email to the provided email address and am waiting to hear back. I also have 2 other orders I had placed to pick up in the next couple of months. I am very upset and disappointed. I have used Zaycon Fresh for years and never expected them to do business this way.
Stacey,
Do you happen to know the email that your confirmation of payment for upcoming deliveries comes from. I can find all kinds of emails from Zaycon but none of the actual orders. I am trying to match orders with the cc statements to file a dispute.
Zaycon Fresh
That’s where my last one came from.
I have all my receipts in an email folder – I placed an order last week and the receipt came from this email address z@zayconfoods.com
I called my bank and got a dispute started for 3 upcoming orders I placed. I was told I would have my money back tomorrow (Wednesday).
I had a scheduled pick up that got pushed back 2 months till July 11th. I questioned this by messages on their site( no proof) with no response, then messaged them on Facebook( got the response printed even tho it is down). I have received no text or email about a cancellation. , UGH the only thing I can do is print out my messages and receipt and go to the bank. I used debit card in March. SO mad right now!
Definitely contact your bank or credit card as soon as possible and dispute the charges as soon as possible!
I got a text today saying that my 7/11 pickup was canceled and that the company was suspending operations. It also said to check the website which of course doesn’t work.
I got a text from my driver saying that he will still be making today’s deliveries. He said the company filed chapter 11 bankruptcy so I doubt we will see any money or food going forward.
I’m so glad to hear he’s making the delivery Andrea – I feel like if those trucks have meat it’s worth them delivering whatever they can from the truck! Thank you for the update. Hoping they deliver as much as they can!
Some drivers are either abandoning their trucks or selling already paid for meat for CASH – thus stealing the product from a customer who had paid for it. I understand them being upset that they lost their jobs and trying to recoup, but this isn’t the right way to do it.
I tried to send them an email at that .com address. questions @ zayconfresh.com…, and it will NOT go trough, none of their phones work, and theirs NO way right now to contact them… I’d do what you said, and get hold of your banks and make sure you can get your charges cancelled, or refunded …
Myra, if you’re putting spaces in that e-mail address like you have it in your message, that’s why it won’t go through. questions@zayconfresh.com. Just hoping that’s the issue so you can contact them.
I had a pickup scheduled for tomorrow (Tues the 26) around noon and got a text late tonight (Monday) that my order for tomorrow has been cancelled. No word on what will happen with the money I already paid…
I guess that answers my question, we are not getting our orders.
Was the pick up in Garden Grove, CA??? I have not heard anything and tried the phone number and it is disconnected.
My delivery as of tomorrow has been cancelled, just found out 5 minutes ago. I was supposed to have 40 lbs of chicken tomorrow, pork chops and bacon in July, shrimp in August, more chicken and Salmon in Sept and October. I’m in tears, my husband is beyond mad. OMG! This was literally hundreds of dollars, my daughter has brain cancer. I had to quite working to care for her, we spent 792.60 of my last pay check to make sure we’d at least have meat in the freezer. I’m a mess
I am sooo sorry Stacey! Definitely contact your bank or credit card as soon as possible and dispute the charges. My heart hurts for you and I am beyond frustrated with this! 🙁
Stacey, you will get that money back. In the end, Zaycin’s bank will have to pay it if they can’t. Just dispute it with your bank or credit card company.
It’s not as easy as that for some of us! It can take MONTHS for a bank to give you money back! This company left people high and dry! Even if they do come back into business, I’d definitely not do business with a company who decides to just close down the doors without refunding anyone. Re-structuring? They just went off the radar with NO warning and NO refunds!!!! Shame on them! BAD, bad customer service, no matter what happened. Not even so much as a word in the text about how to get your money back. People have a right to be very angry and upset over this.
You shoul know that Visa gives you 60 days to dispute a charge. After that, you’re out of luck. I know, because I tried to file a dispute. I ordered in April, and the delivery was pushed up to August. There was no way, of course, for me to know Zaycon would do this to us, but I’m still out that money. $266 isn’t a fortune, but it makes a hole in our fixed income. Sad comment on what can happen if you’re not vigilant. The bells should’ve gone off in my head when they kept switching delivery dates. Life lesson.
Kris same here. I’m beyond pissed
Because of the time frame – more than 60–90 days – since the charges, money might not be refunded. Depends on the bank, especially if a debit card was used. At least that’s what my bank told me. I may not get a refund at all…
My bank said I used my debit card that I was out of luck. However, I read that unless you purchased it AS A DEBIT CARD and entered your PIN, then you’re using your DEBIT card AS A CREDIT CARD and it might work???? I don’t know… I’m so mad about this.
Im in the same boat!!!! They owe me Over $600 and I called my bank and they will not return the money!!!! What do I do
If you paid by credit card, submit a disputed charges claim. Federal laws requires credit care companies to address your claim, but there are a specific series of steps and a timeline you must follow to protect your rights. Here’s a link for more info: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0219-disputing-credit-card-charges
Good luck!
