Walmart Cash – What is It and HOW Does It Work?
Have you heard that the old Walmart Rewards program has changed and is now Walmart cash offers? The old program was only offered to Walmart + members, but this NEW program is available to everyone.
Walmart cash is like a treasure trove these days – there's nothing better than looking up an item you were already going to buy and finding you can save a dollar or more on it! This new cash back program takes a LOT of the guess work out of coupons/rebates and makes it EASY to save at Walmart. There are HUNDREDS of offers available on items that you use every day.

What is Walmart Cash?
Walmart refers to their new program as “promotional currency”. Essentially, it is taking the old printable coupon system and translating it into a MUCH easier to use digital rebate system. From snacks to household items, there are a TON of offers available.
The manufacturer coupons are sourced by Ibotta but with the new system, Walmart links the promotions RIGHT with the product as you're shopping online or in the app. Making it MUCH easier to find what items have offers available (which I LOVE!).
You can see in the example on the Pampers diapers above, you would just click the $3 offer and when you check out, the $3 will be added to your Walmart cash account! It is TRULY that easy.

How Do You Use Walmart Cash?
Once you have a balance, you can use your cash toward a future Walmart purchase. When you checkout online or in the app, as long as you are logged in, you will be shown your cash account balance and will have the option to apply to your current purchase. Just click the box if you'd like to apply, or if not, you'll continue to accrue your balance.
Pro Tip: Walmart cash does NOT expire!Â
A BIG perk of Walmart cash offers that's a bit different than other rewards program is that you can cash out your account in the store for actual CASH MONEY. If you're wanting to get cash from your Walmart cash offers, you do have to have a $25 balance and will need to do that in store at a Walmart money center's customer service desk.
Do you have to have a Walmart membership to get Walmart Cash?
NO! While there are a LOT of benefits to having a Walmart+ membership, you do not have to hold a membership to access these offers.
Does Walmart Cash expire?
It does NOT expire!
Can I use a cash offer with an Ibotta Offer?
No, you cannot. Both offers are manufacturer offers so you will only be able to redeem one offer.

I used Walmart Cash to pay for an item. If I return the item that I paid for with Walmart Cash, will the Walmart cash be refunded to my account?
Here’s what I found on Walmart’s website. Hope this helps! 🙂 “When an item for which you received Walmart Cash through a manufacturer offer is returned & the purchase price is refunded to you, the Walmart Cash for that item will be reversed & deducted from your balance, unless there is another item in your transaction to which the original manufacturer offer could be applied.
If your Walmart Cash balance is not sufficient to cover the deduction, your balance will be negative. You will not be able to redeem any future earned Walmart Cash until you reach a positive balance.”
Can you get Walmart Cash for in store purchases?
You are only able to receive Walmart cash by shopping online/grocery pick up. However, Ibotta has mostly the same offers so you could scan your receipt after you leave the store and claim Ibotta cash for your purchases. Hope that helps! 🙂
Is Walmart Cash non-refundable? In other words, if I use it on a purchase, and then later return that item for a refund, will the Walmart Cash be refunded as well, or do I lose it?
That’s a great question! Here is what I could find on Walmart’s FAQ page: “When an item for which you received Walmart Cash through a manufacturer offer is returned & the purchase price is refunded to you, the Walmart Cash for that item will be reversed & deducted from your balance, unless there is another item in your transaction to which the original manufacturer offer could be applied.” I hope that helps!
