Target store changes coming soon?

Has your Target store been remodeled recently? (Don't worry – they're not moving to Walmart's system of only self-checkout registers). The remodeling is all part of Target's plan to make the customer shopping experience better in 2021…and beyond! Here are a few changes that may be coming to your store…

Store Remodeling & Growth

In 2021, Target is giving 150+ of their locations a major glow-up, with top-to-bottom makeovers including modern fixtures, enhanced experiences, and the latest in health and safety. These remodeled stores will join the more than 800 stores they’ve upgraded over the past four years.

As part of the remodeling, guests may even see special touches like wood panels in the Guest Services areas, touchless bathroom fixtures, and hand sanitizing stations for safety measures.

They're also planning to remodel more than 200 stores every year starting in 2022, incorporating these modernized designs, and will open 30-40 stores annually over the coming years.

“Shop in Shop” Experiences

At select remodeled locations, guests will see some new “shop in shop” experiences incorporated in their remodel, showcasing favorite products from brands like Ulta Beauty, Apple, and Disney.

Disney Store

In 2019, Target added Disney Store at Target shops at select stores located near the kids’ clothing and toy aisles, but more may be coming soon! You'll find music, interactive displays, and a cozy seating area where families can relax, play games, and watch Disney movie clips and more.

There's even a fun photo ops throughout the space where you can try on Mickey’s magic hat, pose with a life-size lightsaber, and wear a prince or princess crown.

Apple Store

Love checking out the latest Apple products? You may be able to do that at Target! The first Apple locations rolled out inside select Target stores in February 2021, but more locations are coming in the fall. You can also check out the online experience at Target.com!

In the Apple “shop in shops”, you’ll explore dedicated displays of the latest cutting-edge devices — including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, HomePod, Apple TV and an extended assortment of Apple accessories. You can watch demonstrations, try out the products and get one-on-one assistance from Target Tech Consultants specially trained by Apple.

Ulta inside Target

Not only are Ulta Beauty “shop in shops” coming to Target this fall, but the beauty department in many locations is also getting a makeover.

You'll find modern/brighter lighting, wider aisles, a Mini Beauty Bar filled with beauty items, and new fixtures that encourage customers to try products. How fun!

Faster Shipping & Order Delivery

Want your order faster? By the end of the year, Target will have 6 sortation centers open across the U.S. This new capability allows them to pull packages from local stores multiple times a day and send them to the sortation center, where they’re sorted by neighborhood for carriers to deliver.

This will give stores extra time and space to fulfill more orders more quickly, and at a lower cost, so guests get their orders faster. They're also opening four new distribution centers in the next two years to strengthen their replenishment and ship-from store capabilities.

Upgraded Guest Services

In their latest round of remodels, Target is also expanding and upgrading their Guest Services, Order Pickup, and Drive Up areas to make them even more convenient. They're also enhancing the technology for these services to create more personalized Order Pickup & Drive Up in-app experiences.
