2025 Target Price Match Policy
Does Target Price Match?
Don't overpay when shopping at Target! Whether you’re shopping mid-year or grabbing Black Friday deals, Target's price match policy helps you shop with confidence.
If an item drops in price within 14 days, you may be eligible for a refund. During the holidays, that window of time gets extended with their special Target Holiday Price Match Policy (last year was November 7 – December 24).
Whether you're shopping for AirPods, toys, or TVs, this guide will walk you step-by-step through how to get your money back — even if the price drops after you buy.
How Target’s Price Matching Works
If you buy a qualifying item at Target then find the identical item for less at Target.com, select online competitors, or in Target’s or competitor’s local print ad, you can request a price match. Price adjustments may be requested at time of purchase or within 14 days after purchase. Note that they made a BIG update this past fall and now only match Amazon and Walmart (as well as Target.com). They previously had a large list of competitors they matched.
What Items Qualify for a Price Match?
- It's an eligible Target product, bought from Target today, or in the past 14 days.
- It's the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
- It's in stock at a lower price, right now, from a select list of competitors (now just Walmart and Amazon) – on their sites, or in their local print ad.
- The price is lower right now from Target.com or your local Target store.
What Items Do NOT Qualify?
Target is not able to price match if…
- It's a “Marketplace” price from a 3rd party seller, or an item sold by Target Plus.
- If you bought it in a Target store, and the lower price is from a different Target store.
- If you received a promotional Target GiftCard as part of the original purchase. Or, if the product currently has a Target GiftCard offered as part of a promotion.
- You are also using a Target Circle offer, Registry completion coupon or other Target coupons.
- The price is a competitor doorbuster or lightning deal (including Amazon Prime or Amazon Fresh Exclusive offers), or for prices that only display on a website after log in.
- Clearance, liquidation, open-box or refurbished items are not eligible
How to Request a Price Match
To receive your adjustment: Either request a price adjustment at guest services or call 1-800-591-3869. You can also open a chat with a Target online associate. Have your proof of purchase ready.
Does Target Price Match Amazon?
YES!
As long as it meets these criteria you can get a price match on an Amazon item:
- The item must be the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
- It must be IN STOCK for shipping and delivery/pickup at the time of Price Match
- Must be Sold & Shipped by Amazon
- No 3rd Party Sellers or Marketplace Items
- No Add-On Items
- No Lightning Deals
Does Target Price Match Walmart?
YES!
As long as it meets these criteria you can get a price match on a Walmart item:
- The item must be the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
- It must be IN STOCK for shipping and delivery/pickup at the time of Price Match.
- Must be Sold & Shipped by Walmart, not 3rd Party Sellers (You can sort by retailer and make sure to pick Walmart to be sure).
Does Target Price Match Online Prices?
YES!
If you're shopping in store and you notice the Target.com price is lower – you can pull up the website on your phone (Or ask guest services to pull it up on their tablet) to get a price match. Just make sure you're not looking at a 3rd party seller (Target has “partner” sellers on their site now that won't count for a price match)
If you try using deal websites to prove that you've found a better deal – Target associates will use the original website or ad to seek proof. If it's not in stock at the time of price match, it won't be honored.
List of Target Price Match Competitors
As of late 2024, Target will ONLY price match Amazon and Walmart.
Target Holiday Price Match Policy (2025)
We anticipate that for 2025, the Target holiday price matching program will be BACK and will last all the way through December 24th! That means starting with Target Black Friday (early November) through Christmas Eve, we anticipate that Target will be price-matching anything you purchase – even if it drops in price after you buy it!
Last year, PPP Team Member Jamie got $75 back for various purchases she made, and she said it was SUPER easy. Here's exactly how to score a Target Price Match refund (be sure to bookmark this page!):
How the Holiday Policy Works
In 2024, from November 7th through December 24th, almost anything you bought at Target could be price-matched if it goes on sale for a lower price. Target shoppers can request a price adjustment over the phone or in store with proof of purchase.
In addition, Target will continue to price match their Competitors' sales within 14 days of purchase. Competitors include Walmart and Amazon (as well as Target.com).
Step-by-Step: How to Get a Holiday Price Match
1. First, check your Target Order History.
2. See If The Price Has Dropped.
Click through the items you purchased in your orders and compare them to current Target prices (especially Black Friday week and Cyber Week!)
- The Airpods I bought a few weeks ago for $199 are now $179.
- A Hoverboard I bought in store is now $25 less.
- My rug I bought a couple months ago was $20 cheaper this week.
- Also a sweater I bought for my son was 30% OFF!
3. Open a Target Chat.
Target online chat is open from 7am – 11pm EST – to start a chat:
On Target.com: Go to Contact Us Page => Choose Order Experience => See the Red Chat Now Button Appear and Click
On Target's App: Go to My Target => Scroll Down to Click the Help Center => Choose Holiday Help & then Holiday Price Match Policy => Click Contact in the Top Right Corner => Choose Chat Now
4. Provide Your Order # and the Item You Want Price Adjusted.
You can find this information in your order history online or in the Target mobile app.
5. Get Your Refund!
It's that easy!
Can You Price Match on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
The answer is… MAYBE?! Target's website does NOT exclude Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals from price matching. However a phone call to our local store reported that they would exclude Black Friday Day this year.
So if you're bound and determined to get in on Target Black Friday Deals – you may still want to shop on Black Friday to be sure to get the lowest price. If you like, you can take a look at what we already know will go on sale for Target Black Friday.
Holiday Exclusions to Know
Target's Holiday Price Match Policy is generous — but there are a few exclusions to watch for:
- Third-party sellers: Items sold by Target Plus or marketplace sellers do not qualify.
- Gift card promotions: Items purchased as part of a Target GiftCard deal are excluded.
- Competitor flash sales: Doorbusters, lightning deals, and prices visible only after login or in cart are not eligible.
- Clearance and refurbished items: No adjustments will be made on clearance, liquidation, or open-box products.
- Geographic limits: Price match adjustments are not available in Alaska or Hawaii.
How Much Money Can You Really Save?
It really can vary based on how much you shop – but last year, my friend Jamie got $75 back on purchases she made, and it was SO easy to use.

I love that Target is continuing their holiday price match policy! It really takes the stress out of shopping during the busy season. Does anyone know if they will be matching online prices as well this year?
Target is great! Yes, they do price match! I wanted 8 Christmas popcorn tins for my grandchildren. Target $12.00 and Walmart $6.86. I just showed the cashier the Walmart ad on my phone, no problem. Used my $50 voucher for opening a Target debit card to pay. Win-Win!!
