Target just announced they are closing on Thanksgiving for GOOD. The retailer has shifted their focus and will be closed each year going forward. Find out all the details!
Target Closed on Thanksgiving Day ……. Permanently!
Earlier in the year, Walmart and Target announced that they will once again be closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th this year…again. There are quite a few other stores closed on Thanksgiving this year as well.
The response from the 2020 holiday season was so positive and in an effort to minimize crowds during the pandemic, the mega retailers have decided to do it again for 2021.
In fact Target just announced they will remain CLOSED on Thanksgiving for years to come.
AP news reports the Target Thanksgiving closure was announced in a note from the CEO to employees. This is what the note said:
“What started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard — one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours,”
“You don’t have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you’ll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won’t ‘get back to’ when the pandemic finally subsides.”

In years past, many stores have opened up on Thanksgiving night to kick off their in-store Black Friday sales. However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year many stores are remaining closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 2021.

It is wonderful that Target is closed on Thanksgiving day. I would love to see us go back to the days of the stores being closed on Sunday.
I think it’s wonderful !! It really sets the value of Target employees and their customers for the holiday!! So Thankful Target is on point with this! I already left target but I will support it by shopping at other times.
