Stores Closed on Thanksgiving Day 2025

Earlier in the year, Walmart and Target announced that they will once again be closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th this year…again.

The response from last year’s closure was so positive, so for 2025 the mega retailers with a department store have decided to do it again. Walmart is doing it this year as a way to say “thank you” to their employees for their hard work through the year but they will have Black Friday Sales running through the day online.

Target in fact, back in 2022, announced that all Target Stores will PERMANENTLY close on Thanksgiving going forward! Best to plan ahead for holiday shopping.

And Best Buy will be closed on Thanksgiving Day as well. They’ll open their doors bright and early on Black Friday with some of their best sales of the season.

In years past, many stores have opened up on Thanksgiving night to kick off their in-store Black Friday sales. However, we are seeing more and more stores give their employees off on Thanksgiving Day while still opening bright and early the following Friday morning 🙂
