Pancakes & Pajamas Party
Need a fun idea for a party theme? PPP Reader Laura threw the most adorable Pancakes & Pajamas themed party for her 1-Year old and it was too cute not to share! A BIG thanks to Laura for sharing her tips and pictures 🙂
Hi everyone, Laura here!
When I started planning my daughter’s first birthday party, I wanted to pick a theme that I hadn’t seen much of, and incorporate one of her favorite foods – pancakes! I settled on a Pancakes & Pajamas party and got to work!
Since the party guests consisted of mainly family and close friends, this theme was perfect and everyone from kids to adults wore their jammies!
We hosted in the morning and I wanted to make sure the food was on point…
What To Serve
Pancakes are so easy to make in bulk to feed a crowd. I made them on the griddle that morning and kept them warm in my crock pot. We had a table designated as the “Pancake Bar” where guests grabbed their pancakes, chose a syrup (maple, strawberry, and chocolate in cute easy-squeeze bottles from Walmart), and picked toppings (we had bacon bits, sprinkles, chocolate chips, and berries).
To dress up the table, I covered it with large, brown craft paper (in the shipping and packing section at Target) and used a sharpie to label and write out the steps.
Because breakfast food is life, we also had a buffet of everything morning yummies! We had mini avocado toasts made on slices of crispy, French baguette, mini bagels, a yogurt bar with various yummy toppings, and scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon – all also kept warm in a crock pot!
Here are some more close-up pictures of how I set up the buffet…
Pancakes & Pajamas Decorations
The main attraction at the party was the food, but I wanted cute and cost-effective decor as well.
I waited for garlands and flowers to be on sale at Hobby Lobby and grabbed a couple to sit on the table with the food. For around $15 it made a huge impact and was such a cute addition to the table!
(Note from Laurie – I did spot this PJs & Pancakes banners on Amazon if you're looking for one!)
For the kids, I set up a small table with crayons and coloring sheets that said “Abby’s House of Pancakes” that I made in Canva and printed at Staples for less than $1.
I also bought a box of Froot Loops and had string to make your own cereal necklace! It was a hit. We also blew up a ton of balloons which the kids turned into a balloon dance party and was the most memorable (and almost free!) activity at the party!
I had taken monthly milestone pictures of my daughter that I wanted to display in a fun way. First, I bought a Hula Hoop at Walmart, spray painted it gold, tied cute twine on it and draped some of the garland on top. I clipped the pictures to it in order and it was such a cute way to see how she changed through the year!
The party was such a hit and everyone loved wearing pajamas. It was casual, fun, and since it was in the morning, it was over by nap time! (Definitely an added bonus.)
I think the most expensive aspect was splurging on pajamas for the birthday girl that said “Party all day, sleep all night” from Carter’s. (Worth it!) The Pancakes & Pajamas party theme is one I will likely do again in the future since it was so easy – and yummy!

So cute! I’m going to do this for my daughter’s first birthday party! Where did you find the pancakes with the number 1 candle image?

Laura made it on this program. Hope that helps! https://www.canva.com/
What temperature did you keep the pancakes on in the crockpot? Did they get soggy?
Alice -PPP Team says
I would set it at the lowest temp, otherwise, they will become rubbery. My family ate them up fast so they didn’t get a chance to get soggy!
