Love Hobby Lobby? Take a look at the Hobby Lobby Sale Schedule – you can save EVEN MORE by knowing what items are on sale when. Take a look!
Hobby Lobby Sale Schedule – Make it EASY to Save!
In the past, grabbing a Hobby Lobby coupon to pair with a sale has always been a great way to save on craft supplies, home decor, and even furniture at Hobby Lobby. However, last February, they announced that they were doing away with their coupons. You can still save at Hobby Lobby though – even without a coupon! They have SO many items in store and most items are on sale on a fairly regular schedule. One BIG tip to save is knowing the cycle of the Hobby Lobby sale schedule.
For example, up until several months ago, Hobby Lobby Furniture was ALWAYS on sale for 30% OFF. But that all has changed now. A bit ago, stores around the country got the memo that they were to discontinue furniture sales from here on out.
Also – did you see these ADORABLE Highland cows we spotted in store recently?? So cute!
In FACT, reader Janet who works for Hobby Lobby said there was word that they would be discontinuing furniture sales due to rising shipping costs and delays.
While this news is a bummer – we still have lots of other tips to save money at Hobby Lobby!
If you're a fan of adorable home decor and super-cute craftiness, you are probably already familiar with Hobby Lobby. But do you know all the best tricks to save money there?
My idea of a lovely afternoon is wandering down the aisles of Hobby Lobby and dreaming up new ways to fluff up my home… but I definitely have to watch what I'm spending there!
They always have such great home decor items with their hobby lobby sales!
We're sharing nine easy ways to save at Hobby Lobby that will make your love of shopping there a teensy bit more affordable – with or without a Hobby Lobby coupon 🙂
9 Ways to Save at Hobby Lobby
1 . Never EVER Pay Full Price – Always Check the Sale Items!
In the past, the best way to save at Hobby Lobby was to combine a store sale with a coupon. This would allow you to get a rock bottom price and save big!
Unfortunately, Hobby Lobby no longer offers 40 off coupon as they used to. But note that there are regularly items discounted 40 – 50% off every week as part of their weekly ad.
What happened to the Hobby Lobby 40 off coupon?
As of February 28th, 2021 – Hobby Lobby no longer offers a 40% OFF coupon in stores or online. 🙁 A representative from Hobby Lobby explained that this would allow them to “intensify efforts to discount thousands of items every day” rather than a discount on just one item.
To be honest, a lot of their store is regularly marked down, and it was sometimes difficult to find a regularly priced item to use that 40% off coupon on. We're hoping to see even more discounts on a wider variety of items since they no longer offer this coupon.
Since you will no longer get Hobby Lobby 40 off coupons, be sure to grab the Hobby Lobby app that includes their weekly store sales. This will help you stay up to date on their current sale items! (iPhone and Android)
Hobby Lobby has never offered promo codes or coupon codes (just the scannable coupon), so if we spot anything like that in the future we will be certain to let you know!
2. Learn the Hobby Lobby Sale Schedule.
One of my BEST insider tips for how to save at Hobby Lobby is to learn the sales schedule. If you never knew that Hobby Lobby rotates it's sale items on a set schedule, this is going to change the way you shop for good!
Certain items go on sale every 3 weeks, while others are every 4 weeks, and select items are actually on sale EVERY SINGLE WEEK. (Like t-shirts? ALWAYS on sale!) It's good to know the regular prices and the sale prices too so you don't overpay. You can see the Hobby Lobby Sale Ad for the current week here – but here are some examples of their sales cycle.
ALWAYS on Sale:
- Floral
- T-Shirts
- Trees & Plants
- some Fabric
- Frames & Posters
On Sale Every Other Week:
- Yarn & Needlepoint
- Craft Kits, Art Supplies
- Jewelry Kits
- Floral Stems
- Garlands
- Trays
- Baskets and Boxes
- Wreaths
- Ribbon and Tulle
- Metal, Wood, Ceramic and Resin Decor
3 Weeks Out of Every 4:
- Clocks
- Candle Holders
- Pillows
- Rugs and Wall Decor
2 Weeks Out of Every 3:
- Jewelry Making Supplies
- Canvas 2-Pks
Once Every 4 Weeks:
- Home Decor
- Paper Crafting and Stationary
- Select Fabric
- Men's Decor
- Scrapbooking Supplies
Of course some items never ever go on sale, and you won't be able to use a Hobby Lobby coupon on them either. Those include candy and cake making supplies, gift wrap, party supplies, bakeware and Cricut branded products. (Although you will be able to find party supplies and gift wrap on their CLEARANCE wall seasonally!)
But for party supplies – I totally recommend hitting up the Dollar Tree anyway because that have tons of cute stuff for just
$1!(Now $1.25 with Dollar Tree Plus and the raising of their prices!)
3. Look for Clearance After Holidays!
One of my very favorite time to shop at Hobby Lobby is after any holiday. You can find OODLES of clearance and if you wait long enough it'll get marked down to 90% off! I use these opportunities to stock up for next year's Holiday supplies – and store them in a tote.
It's a fun surprise to me each year when I open up my Christmas tote and there's already tons of cute ribbon and decorative supplies!
- Shop clearance after Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween.
- Also shop for season-specific items as the season winds down – love getting cute things for next year! You can find lots of summer toys at the end of summer for instance – even halfway through summer they're already at 66% off!
- Find clearance up to 50% off right before the holiday arrives, then it will go down to 66%, 80% and finally 90%.
- Keep in mind the selection will be pretty puny by the time it goes 90% OFF, but what treasures you DO find will be ultra-cheap!
4. Score Online Clearance Deals.
If your store is always thoroughly picked over in the clearance department – give the Hobby Lobby online clearance section a shot! You can shop rock-bottom clearance online long after the stores have cleared out seasonal inventory. It's a procrastinator's dream!
Shipping is not cheap however, so wait until Hobby Lobby runs a free shipping event to go deal hunting online! To find out when the Free Shipping events happen (usually a couple times per month), make sure to sign up for Hobby Lobby's email!
5. Hobby Lobby Price Matches.
This is a fun one!! Hobby Lobby will price match competitors like Michael's or JoAnn's – but you need to know a few rules:
- Item must be an EXACT match
- You must have the competitor's physical ad in hand
- You can't use a Hobby Lobby coupon along with a price match
6. Scratch & Dent = Bigger Discounts.
I love a good scratch and dent find! If you find something you love and it has a little nick on it or is otherwise damaged in some way, you can ask your cashier to discount it further. They will generally take an extra 10% – 15% OFF the item, which can make for a sweet deal!
7. Grab a Raincheck for Sold Out Items.
One of my favorite tips that spans alllll of my couponing and bargain shopping habits is asking for a rain check when an item you want is out of stock. This goes for Hobby Lobby too! If something is on sale but has been all snatched up, just contact customer service, and Hobby Lobby will honor the price on your rain check when it's back in stock.
Additionally, you might want to know that Hobby Lobby stores never have extra stock hiding in the back. Everything they get in goes right to the floor, so what you see is what you get!
8. Hobby Lobby has great prices on poster board.
This one may seem a little bit random, but I love getting poster board at Hobby Lobby! My kids are always up to some project at school, and while the Dollar Tree has white poster board on sale every day 2/$1, their colored poster boards are $.69. Every few weeks Hobby Lobby puts all of their poster board on sale 2/$1 (including colored poster boards), which is worth watching for when you're there.
9. Will Hobby Lobby Price Adjust? You Bet!
If you need fabric or decor RIGHT NOW at full price – but find out next week it went on sale – Hobby Lobby has you covered! Just bring in your receipt and the product and get a price adjustment up to 14 days after your purchase. Money back in your pocket is always nice (note that this does not apply to clearance events)!
When it comes down to it, the top 3 ways to save at Hobby Lobby are:
- Using a Hobby Lobby coupon (Grab the Entertainment Book Coupon now that the Hobby Lobby 40 off coupon is no longer available)
- Waiting for sales to cycle around (download the Hobby Lobby app so you can easily see the sale ads)
- Visiting Hobby Lobby clearance aisles for huge markdowns
I'd love to hear your favorite tips on how to save at Hobby Lobby – and what your favorite things are to buy there!

Also read the fine print!! 40% off on all candles is not true. In small print it’ll tell you it’s for under 2.95. Why does this have to be so complicated HL?? Just have a normal sale!
Melisa Allen says
I haven’t seen sewing patterns on sale in a long time has anyone?
Bridgett - PPP Team says
Oh I hate that! Hopefully they will start putting it on a regular rotation again.
Julie Holley says
Has anyone else noticed that the buttons made by sewology have not been on sale. It’s been months! They use to be 50% off every other week
Bridgett - PPP Team says
We haven’t noticed but will be on the lookout for them to go on sale!
Jennifer says
Just FYI, I worked at HL and some of your sales rotations are off. You may need to watch the adds for a bit to be sure, but when I worked there cake making supplies that were a specific brand go on sale every other week. Also, jewelry rotates specific to brand. Some are every other week while others are every 3 or 4 weeks. Same with some of the art supplies. Floral isn’t technically always on sale. It rotates between stems and wedding floral.
Madison ~ PPP Team says
Thanks for the heads up and letting us know!
Alril says
When they killed the coupon I stopped shopping at HL as much as I used to. I used go every weekend. Without the coupon, I only go when I need something, which isn’t nearly as frequently as I used to. Maybe once every two or three months. So I guess it’s better for my wallet, as I don’t feel a pull to impulsively stop by my local HL anymore.
Debbie Podwika says
Personally, won’t bother me. I think their furniture is cheap. I look at it and wood thin and it rocks (not solid) etc.
Julie says
This is incorrect when it comes to the furniture always being 30% off. I went to a HL last week and was eying a console. I even went online and found it on sale there. Yesterday, I went back to the store and the tag was taken off as it went back to regular price. It also went back to regular price online. If someone knows a trick, please let me know, but to say all furniture is always 30% off is not correct
Julie says
This is not correct when it comes to furniture. I was at a HL last week and was eyeing a console. It had the tag saying always 30% off and when I went back yesterday, the tag was taken off. I even went online to see if I could get it for the 30% there and it was no longer on sale. If someone knows something else, let me know, but this is not correct to say it’s ALWAYS 30% off
Laurie says
Thanks for sharing about your experience Julie!
Cindy says
Furniture has always been 30% off up UNTIL now. Now it isn’t and won’t be in the future.
Aud B. says
Great post! When does Hobby Lobby put their candles on sale?
Cynthia says
Every other week, but only candles that are $2.99 and higher. It may be different now, but that’s what it was when I worked there.
Nilki says
Our Hobby Lobby had some of their Cricut supplies 40% of this week.
Laurie says
Love that! Thank you for sharing!

Any idea when table decor goes on sale?
Kathryn says
Table decor is on sale every other week, wall decor the next. Just check before you go, it’s easy to get the weeks mixed up.
Jennifer says
I never see puzzles on sale anymore. I used to shop there when I could get them 40% off but I quit since I never see them on sale. Disappointing for sure!
Cassie says
I have seen puzzles on sale in there ad since they stopped the 40% off coupon. Puzzles are on sale this next week 10/18 for 40%, I saw in there ad. I don’t know how often they do the sale maybe once a month. I know I have seen it in the ad since they stopped doing coupons. Since I don’t think before they ever had puzzles on sale with out a coupon that I know of. Also I saw wear Christmas was 50% starting this week, so you can buy Christmas puzzles for 50%.
Laurie says
Thanks a bunch for letting us know Cassie! 🙂
Sharon says
I know this is kind of old, but puzzles are on sale semi frequently. I buy puzzles every few months at hobby lobby and I often catch them on sale.
Another tip, art tables and easels. I just bought my budding artist a angled drafting desk for Christmas. 189 for 40 percent off is a whole next level savings

What is the sale cycle for the pattern department?
Dawn says
This article was so helpful! Thank you, very much!!!

Sorry if I’ve missed a more recent post, but Cricut products were on sale last week and the Cricut Maker is 349.99 this week; any idea if this is a one-off type thing, less frequent than every 4 weeks, or a regular occurrence now in their sale cycle?
Kathryn says
Cricut items are on sale every other week. Always the vinyl, I’m not as sure how often or which other Cricut items are on sale but there are some plus the vinyl every other week. The off weeks the HL brand of vinyl is 50% off.
Kris S. says
