Cheree's 5 Fall Wardrobe Staples!

Cheree has been happily married to her college sweetheart 32 years and is the mama of 4 grown kids (2 girls & 2 boys) and a recent empty nester. She's a true southern belle and has the cutest accent on the planet! She is the face behind a lot of customer happiness here at PPP and a recipe writing machine! In her free time she enjoys creating floral bouquets (which are amazing), swimming, binging British tv series and trying to figure out ways to get all her people in one place.

Cheree here! When Jamie asked me if I would be willing to share my top 5 fall wardrobe staples, I tried not to panic and remembered, why yes I do have a degree in fashion merchandising (however my girls love to remind me it was from the 80's), ha!! But I still think I know a thing or two. 🙂

Here are my 5 Fall Wardrobe Staples:

1. Little Black Dress
2. Good Handbag
3. Pop of Animal Print
4. Denim Jacket or Long Cardigan

1. Little Black Dress

A little black dress would be on my list for all seasons, but especially for fall as we begin pulling out darker colors. I have this one from Jane.com and I've been wearing it for almost a year and seriously y'all, it was something like $13.99! I love it because you can layer it with a good jean jacket, cardigan or kimono to really change up the look. 🙂

2. Good Handbag

I love, love, love a good handbag. Sometimes I'll invest in a name brand (because they typically last forever). I've gotten some awesome deals over at Kate Spade. But, most times I'll just snag one at Target or Kohls. I'm loving this bag at Target right now. 🙂

3. Pop of Animal Print

Ok, ok I know that animal print isn't for everyone! If animal print isn't your thing, think outside the box for a pop of something else like polka dots or even stripes! 🙂

I bet I've had this belt for 10 years and it's still going strong! Also, notice in the picture above, the sleeves of my blouse are animal print and I LOVE it! Think about a scarf, purse, earrings or shoes to add a pop of animal print to your outfit.

I recently purchased these cute little animal print BOBS (since our awesome PPP team found such a great deal)! These have a memory foam bottom that make them so squishy and comfy and I think they're just adorable. 😍

BTW, snake skin is also a trend this fall but I haven't gotten on board with that one myself….yet!

4. Denim Jacket or Long Cardigan

A denim jacket has been a staple in my closet for over 20 years! I purchased a new denim jacket this season after years and years of wearing the same darker denim one. The light distressed denim is all the rage this fall so I decided to go for it! I got this one from Old Navy and I loved it so much I bought one for my best friend for her birthday. 🙂

I have the same long cardigan that Laurie featured in her fall favorites and it really is so versatile and such a great color!

5. A pair of Statement Earrings

Statement earrings are an inexpensive way to really add some WOW to your wardrobe! Since my youngest son is a student at Auburn, I'm choosing these orange tassel earrings this fall as a staple. These are only $10.99 on Amazon and they have oodles of colors to choose from! Woot! Bigger earrings will draw the eye up so they can help camouflage other parts you might not want accentuated!

I also love these Kendra Scott ones as well!

6. Bonus: A high quality pair of Black Jeans

Black jeans are a must have for a slimmer silhouette! I invested in a pair of black jeans probably 5 years ago. They are NYDJ brand (which are crazy expensive and more than I normally spend on a pair of jeans)! But, the color is as good today as the day I bought them. Black jeans are tricky because they lose their color. So, it might be worth it to pay a bit more now and have them last instead of having to replace them each year.

Just for kicks – this is me trying to be a model and getting attacked by a vine- complete ridiculousness! I think I'll stick with customer happiness. 🙂
