How To Get Cheap Diapers
Having a baby can be expensive – and if you're not doing cloth diapers, one of the biggest expenses comes in the form of disposable diapers. You can spend as much a $1 and as little as a dime – in this post we're going to break down HOW to save money on diapers!
Here are some tips for getting CHEAP DIAPERS – but for a handy reference that compares all the brands – sign up for our Cheap Diaper Cheat Sheet below!
Use Generic Store Brands
The easiest and fastest way to keep money in your wallet when buying diapers is to choose the generic store brand. The difference can be DRASTIC – here's one example.
Aldi sells a pack of 40 Size 1 Diapers for $3.99 😊
Walmart sells a pack of 50 Size 1 Diapers for $4.89 😊
Pampers sells a pack of 30 Size 1 Diapers for $9.87 🙁
Is there a difference? Sure – but if you need to save money this is a great way to do it!
PPP Team Member Laura will ONLY use Up + Up Diapers and had this to say: I’ve been using Up+Up diapers for years! You cannot beat the price and I prefer them over name brands. I love that you can get a large box because my kids have been some real poopers!
Here are some more popular store brands to consider:
- Walmart = Parent's Choice Diapers
- Amazon = Mama Bear Diapers
- Target = Up + Up Diapers
- Sams Club = Members Mark Diapers
- Costco = Kirkland's Diapers
- Aldi = Little Journey
Get the Biggest Box
In most cases, buying the biggest bulk box will guarantee you the lowest cost per diaper. If you belong to a club like Costco or Sams Club – this holds especially true.
But don't trust that this will ALWAYS be true! Check the “per diaper price” on the Cheap Diaper Cheat Sheet and compare it to the price of diapers you buy in bulk. Occasionally those bulk deals can be deceptive! We find this especially true if a store is running a special or offering a coupon on a smaller pack.
Buy Diapers On Sale
This one might seem like a no brainer – but it's a habit that may take a while to develop. Try to buy enough diapers when they're on sale to last you until the next sale. The goal is to NEVER be paying full price if you're buying name brand diapers. Because let's face it – they're EXPENSIVE! See this week's best Diaper Deals!
If you need diapers right now and you're not sure where to start, begin by checking this week's online store ads. (especially Target, Walmart & CVS) Scroll through the sales to see where the best place is to buy them each week. Target Diaper Deals change every week and almost ALWAYS involve a gift card when you buy diapers. (Who doesn't love a Target giftcard?)
Get Amazon Diaper Discounts
Amazon offers a couple of different diaper discounts: Subscribe & Save Discount and Baby Registry Discount.
Get 5% when you choose Subscribe & Save or 15% if you have at least 5 Subscribe & Save Subscriptions. You can cancel these subscriptions any time – if you just want the discount but not the recurring delivery, simply cancel your subscription as soon as you receive your first order.
When you create an Amazon Baby Registry you'll have the opportunity to get a 20% OFF Diapers for One Year if at least $500 of items are purchased from your registry.
This diaper discount expires when the baby reaches his first birthday OR you reach the maximum of $300 worth of diaper purchases.
Print/Clip Diaper Coupons
Printable Coupons:
If you have the time – printing coupons for diapers is a great way to save money. It's like literally PRINTING YOUR OWN MONEY – a $3 Coupon on Pampers means $3 stays in your pocket that otherwise wouldn't have!
Newspaper Coupons:
You can also buy the Sunday paper and clip out diaper coupons – you'll most likely find them in the Proctor & Gamble inserts, but sometimes the other coupon inserts will have them too! Search the word “DIAPER” in our coupon database to see if there are any in an upcoming Sunday Paper 🙂
Digital Coupons:
eCoupons are another great way to save on diapers. Gone are the days when you had to get out scissors to clip coupons – now you can simply tap your phone to “clip” a coupon when heading to the store! Download the app for the store you frequent most (i.e. Publix, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, etc..) Most all of them now have eCoupons you can browse through.
CashBack Apps:
You can also use Fetch, Ibotta and other cash-back apps to get money back when you send in a picture of your receipt. There are oodles of ways to save on diapers if you make the time!

PPP Contributor Laura suggested that on top of the traditional baby shower gifts given to mom by friends and family – you can throw a “Diaper Shower” for dad and his friends!
The guys get off easy – they don't have to shop for frilly cuteness or pick out the perfect burp cloths – they just show up with a pack of diapers and they're in 🙂
