34 of the Best Baby Gifts EVER
After you look through this list – I'd love to hear what we missed! What was the best or most useful baby gift you received at your shower?
1 . Diapers
The #1 answer by FAR when we asked readers about the best baby shower gifts they received – was DIAPERS. Many pointed out that they were most grateful for larger sized diapers because baby grew out of newborn sizes so fast.
Getting new parents a monthly diaper subscription from Amazon is a fantastic idea!
2 . Baby Books (instead of Cards)
This is a DARLING idea to help start baby's first library – have guests bring their favorite childhood books or baby books instead of a card! Board books are the best at holding up to little chubby hands and drooley little mouths 🙂
3 . Homemade Meals
Many moms voiced their appreciation of friends and family dropping off meals when they were newly home with baby. The Freezer Meals recipe box is a great way to stock someone's freezer with family-friendly food they'll love!
4 . Baby First Aid Kit or Basket of Meds
Sooo many readers mentioned getting or giving this gift – and with good reason! The times you are panicking in the middle of the night – are the exact times you DON'T want to run to the pharmacy or Walmart to get a nasal aspirator or baby Tylenol. This gift is an awesome way to help new parents be prepared!
If you're making your own you may want to include items like: Tylenol, Motrin, Nose frida, Boudreaux's Butt Paste, thermometer, q-tips, booger wipes, gas drops, extra pacifiers, orajel, cradle cap silicon scrubbers, frozen teethers. Stuff them into a diaper bag for a great presentation!

9 . Wrap or Carrier
A wrap is great for carrying baby around with you and evenly distributing their weight (Plus baby loves snuggling up close). Readers loved getting these wraps/carriers – and these were their top recommendations:

16 . Bouncy Seat
A bouncy seat can prop baby up and let them entertain themselves as they bounce gently – there is also a vibration setting to help soothe them.
17 . Boppy Pillow
PPP Team Member Jamie named this her most useful gift saying “My Boppy nursing pillow was so helpful for getting baby in a cozy position for nursing – especially I was exhausted. I also used mine to get my arms free to fold clothes or vacuum the floor, etc… but follow the warnings on the pillow to NEVER leave baby alone in one.”
(In fact – these Boppy Loungers were just recalled last month for that reason)
18 . Baby Swing
A baby swing can be a life-saver if your baby loves a constant rocking motion – baby swings have come a long way since mine were itty bitty, these are so much more compact!
19 . Bottle Drying Rack/Grass
A chic way to dry all the odds and ends of babydom – from bottles and nipples to spoons and pacifiers!
20. Space Saver High Chair
Oh how I wish this would've been around when mine were little – super handy and it can travel to grandma's house and restaurants!
21. Door Jumper
Babies LOVE testing their leg muscles out by hopping up and down for long periods of time in these doorway jumpers – and bonus perk – it wears them out a little 😉 Reader Tracey said “Its been 35 years and I still remember how much joy it brought my son and how relieved I was to have my arms empty, even if only for fifteen minutes at a time.”

This soothing sound machine also doubles as a nightlight, or middle-of-the-night nursing and diaper changing light – and you can control all the settings from your phone.
23. Homemade Blankets/Quilts
This baby shower gift idea is an oldie but a goodie! Several readers wrote about lovely homemade gifts they'd received and their children continued to cherish them into adulthood.
24. Wipe Warmer
Keep baby from waking up even more during those late night diaper changes with a warm soothing wipe (instead of a cold, shocking one).
25. Baby Backseat Car Mirror
Go old school backseat mirror with the Pikibu – or higher-tech with this backseat camera setup! Reader Courtney said: “It is by far my favorite and most useful. I get one for everyone's baby shower now. You can see the baby perfectly at night as well.”
26 . Nursing Cover
This gives mom privacy when it's time to nurse – and can often double as a car-seat cover as well 🙂
27. Short Years Baby Book App
Love the idea of a baby book but fear it's too much to keep up with?
Cara said “It was a life saver because I wanted a baby book but knew I’d never put it together myself. All you do is answer the questions in each chapter/month and upload whatever photos you want. When finished, you ask them to ship and they’ll print and ship to you. You insert into a binder they already sent you!”
28 . Baby Video Monitor
This one is Amazon's best seller and has a long distance range of up to 900 feet. You could probably check in on baby while getting the mail!
29 . Magnetic Onesies
Readers say these are great for middle of the night soothing, when fumbling over snaps and zippers in the dark is likely to make baby wake up more.
30 . Postpartum Mom Goodie Basket
Several readers absolutely loved when someone gave them all the little things a post-partum mom might need (but not realize it). Things like nipple cream & nursing pads, tucks soothing pads, lactation cookies, Extra absorbent pads, Motrin, face mask, body wipes, deodorant, bubble bath, bath salts, peri bottle, bathrobe or comfy pj set.
31 . Velcro Crib Shoes
Skip the baby socks and opt for these super soft crib shoes to keep babies' toes toasty in cool weather.
32. Hand-Written Advice
Another baby shower gift idea that costs nothing but your time is to write out some helpful advice – if you're doing this at the shower itself, you could gather the bits of advice on pieces of paper in a large jar or book and let the parents read over the notes later.
33 . Pack & Play or Playyard
One of the most useful things a new parent can own – a play yard is an awesome gift to help in those early days!
34 . Let them pick!
Although everyone likes to believe they know the BEST gift – sometimes it's really best to let mom and dad decide what they need/want. In many cases the parents have put in hours of research before adding items to their baby registry and truly want those exact items.
If they're out of your budget (and I know some of those things are PRICEY) – get them gift cards to the store so they can combine efforts and buy that expensive double-stroller or car seat system!
