Toys“R”Us is opening 120 NEW standalone locations across the United States this holiday season! This huge expansion will bring the retailer’s standalone U.S. store count to about 160 locations, giving families even more opportunities to shop for toys, collectibles, and gifts in person. And honestly, I’m kind of excited about this one! There’s something special about actually walking into a toy store and seeing all those toys in person, especially around the holidays.

Toys“R”Us Is Coming Back for the Holidays

After Toys“R”Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed its remaining U.S. stores, the beloved retailer began making its way back into the American retail landscape.

The brand returned through Toys“R”Us shops inside Macy’s stores, standalone locations, and other retail partnerships. Now, this latest announcement represents a major expansion for the brand in the U.S.

The 120 new locations are being opened in partnership with Go! Retail Group, an Austin-based company that specializes in specialty retail.

When Will the New Toys“R”Us Stores Open?

The new locations are planned to open during the 2026 holiday season, although Toys“R”Us has not yet released a complete list of all 120 locations or specific opening dates.

So if you’re hoping to have a Toys“R”Us near you for Christmas shopping, keep an eye out! More location details are expected to be announced.

What Will the New Stores Sell?

Naturally, you’ll find plenty of toys and gifts from some of the biggest names in the toy world.

The new stores are expected to feature popular brands and products including:

• LEGO
• Barbie
• Hot Wheels
• Pokémon
• KPop Demon Hunters
• Collectibles and trending toys
• Holiday gifts and stocking stuffers

But Toys“R”Us is also trying to make these stores more than just places to buy toys. Some locations will feature Creator Studios, where influencers and toy brands can create content, host product reveals, launch new products, and hold special events. Select stores will also include candy shops and cafés!

Basically, they’re bringing back the toy-store experience with a few modern upgrades.

Toys“R”Us Is Still Inside Macy’s, Too

If you don’t have a standalone Toys“R”Us nearby, don’t forget that the retailer also has Toys“R”Us shops inside Macy’s stores nationwide. The company is continuing to expand through different types of retail locations, so even if your town doesn’t get one of the 120 new standalone locations, you may still have a way to shop Toys“R”Us locally.

And honestly, I think this is such a fun comeback! Toys“R”Us is returning to brick-and-mortar retail in a big way just as families are getting ready for the holiday shopping season. And for those of us who remember the excitement of walking into Toys“R”Us as kids, seeing those aisles packed with toys is definitely a little nostalgic.
