I shared earlier this week that my Sweet Caroline turned nine, so this weekend we're having her birthday party (and she's soooooo excited. . . remember how fun it was to be nine and have a birthday party to look forward to?) Yesterday I ran to Wal-mart with my littlest to try to come up with some clever and reasonably penny-pinched birthday party favor, and I'm pretty pleased with what we managed to find at the very last minute.
Since every girl loves a bubble bath, I grabbed every last sponge that Wal-mart had. And ater using those mason jars a few weeks ago to re-organize our spice cabinet, I thought they would be perfect to hold a little bubble bath! Here's what we bought:
- 1 box of 12 small mason jars $7.95 I wish they were a wee bit bigger, but these will do!
- 2 spools of ribbon $.97 each
- Bubble Bath $3.84 I bought 3 HUGE jugs in fear we wouldn't have enough . . . we didn't even go through one jug!
- 10 sponges $.79 each
I had the paper at home and used my Cricut to cut out the letters (but you could easily find fun alphabet stickers instead at any store that carries scrapbook paper.) So, I spent $21.63 for ten girls gifts . . . not the greatest deal ever, but not too bad! All I did was cut the circle for the lid, add their initial, pour bubble bath into each jar, and tie a ribbon around the top of the jar. The sponges had hangers that exactly wrapped around each jar, so everything fit perfectly (thank goodness!)
Do you have any other great ideas for frugal birthday party favors? I'd love to hear them!
