I'm in the middle of a living room makeover (we finally updated our couches after 10 years) and we've been on a search for a new sideboard.
This search has been going on for MONTHS ~ all around the $500 range. This had me thinking . . . why not just paint the one we have now and create a DIY Sideboard Makeover?
Supplies Needed:
- Chalk Paint ($29)
- Wipe-On Poly (completely optional – we had some in the garage from a previous project
If you haven't use chalk paint before, it is amazing.Â
There is NO prep, no sanding, nothing crazy required. Just open up the can and paint!
I went to Lowes and bought a $29.00 can of chalk paint, painted this beautiful sideboard to match my new furniture and in just a few hours I was done with this DIY Sideboard Makeover.

I went to Home Depot to get chalk paint an saw all the colors, but what I was looking for was chalk board pain. which is a big difference. I didn’t know that they were different an was glad i asked the guy there, I would have been very up set when I got home. What I did was got black chalkboard paint an the door to the garage is right next to my appliances in the kitchen, so I painted the top two inner parts of the panel with the chalkboard paint so now when I run out of something or need something it is right there on my chalk board panels. Love it an so does everyone who see it.
