Happy Thursday!
After last night's response to our first See How We Saved Today post I decided to tackle it again tonight.  (Goodness, I so loved hearing from you ~ leave a comment HERE to keep me up to date on how you're saving big!)
I don't know that I'll share a post on this every single night, but hopefully a few nights a week I'll pop in and update you on a few ways we've saved each day.
While we didn't have any huge savings today, we also didn't have much spending going on, which is always a win in my book.Â
I remembered early enough in the morning to pop dinner in Mrs. Potts (thank heavens for our Supper's Set for Summer Challenge back in May!), which meant we ate at home and saved on dinner out. This morning my two older kids had baby sitting jobs and my youngest played with the neighbor kids, which is my favorite way for them to spend their summer days at home.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when I found  this little fun surprise in the mailbox today later this morning.
I'd ordered it 10 days ago on Amazon for $3.99 (it was actually FREE after my Ibotta credit!), and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed!
The shipping was a little longer than my regular Prime deliveries, but for $3.99 (including shipping!) I feel like this was totally my little happy win of the day. 😉
(Go HERE if you'd like one too!)Â
Later this afternoon, I had to take one of my kiddos for a not-so-fun appointment, so I treated them on the way home to a McDonald's Small McCafe Frappe. We definitely could have skipped the treat, but this kid of mine has worked way harder than many on a few tough things in life, and earned every ounce of that well-deserved $2 treat.
(I promise, we hardly ever have drive-thru treats like yesterday and today, but it's summertime and we're living large. 🙂 Um, if we go there all that often we might REALLY be living large ~ eek!) 😉Â
For dinner my 17-year old asked if he could have a few friends stay to eat (which he hardly ever does, so I was thrilled our crockpot was full!) I raced to Kroger and picked up a loaf of bread, some sour cream and chives to “fancy up” our King Ranch Stuffed Potatoes meal, and spent $8.72.
(If he hadn't had friends coming over we'd have skipped the extras, but if he's willing to invite his buddies to hang out, you know this momma's willing to splurge!)
I baked up a quick batch of my best ever chocolate chip cookies, promised his friends I'd make them every single time they ever came by, and dinner was done.Â
So for the day we spent $10.72, and while I probably could have saved every single penny of that, I felt like today that was $10 well worth it.
Have YOU saved big today? I’d love to hear what you’ve done to save some moolah ~ leave a comment to share!
Note: I am loving all the deals that are in our Entertainment Book which I just ordered for $7.76 with the code JULY4 at checkout. I'm not sure how much longer the code lasts, but ours included BOGO zoo passes, water park passes, OODLES of restaurant coupons (at restaurants we actually go to), and is well worth the $7 cost! If you're interested in one, hurry over HERE to snag one for your hometown.

You’re not going to believe how we had a free night out for our Anniversary.
$7 – First I took the kids to the peach orchard and we got some “past ripe” peaches at more than half off to make cobbler tomorrow.
$0 – Then onto the library that was having a kids hands on science thing today.
Then for our 16th Anniversary.
$0 – My mom came to babysit and brought dinner for her and the kids.
$0 – My husband’s boss rented out a theater that serves dinner and we had a private (us and about 10 co-workers and spouses) showing of the new Spiderman movie. Complete with drinks, appitizers, dinner and dessert.

How fun for him having friends over 🙂 I wouldn’t have been able to have just ran to the store we live to far away. I had to do my cleaning jobs today so stopped at Walmart & found french bread for .69 we love this for pizza, open faced sandwiches & all kinds of stuff. I just put them in the freezer(I have a couple large ones, because we butcher our own beef & pork & I freeze alot of produce). Technically I saved more than that since we now have potatoes out of the garden!!!!!

I love that Karen! I can’t imagine living farther away from a grocery store now that we’ve had one nearby (when we were first married we lived about 20 minutes from the store, and it definitely saved me some moo-lah because I couldn’t run out in a pinch!) I *love* that you snagged a few deals while in town, and a garden helps save so much money (I wish our deer wouldn’t eat everything in ours!) Thanks so much for sharing how you saved today!

What is the Ibotta rebate on the initial pillow case?
Laurie says
Hi Becky! Ibotta is a rebate app that pays when you shop – the pillow case was $3.99, but you can use your Ibotta credit to get Amazon gift cards, so I had some loaded.
