4th of July White Trash Candy – A Fun, Festive Treat
Looking for a no-fuss, festive treat to sweeten up your Fourth of July? Enter: White Trash Candy! This salty-sweet snack mix is ridiculously easy to throw together and always a crowd favorite. Dressed up with red, white, and blue sprinkles, it’s the perfect patriotic snack—but don’t be fooled, we’ve made this same recipe for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and just about any excuse to celebrate. Honestly, it’s so addicting, you’ll want to keep a stash on hand year-round.
Here's how to make this White Trash Recipe:
First, gather up your supplies. Here's what you will need:
- chex mix
- small pretzels
- peanuts
- sprinkles
- m&m's
- almond bark
- wax or parchment paper
Measure all your ingredients—white chocolate chips, candy coating or almond bark, corn or rice Chex, pretzels, M&M's, and peanuts—into a large mixing bowl. I love using my 8-cup measuring cup for the job; it’s surprisingly perfect for mixing everything together!
Next, give everything a good toss in that giant bowl! While the recipe includes Chex, peanuts, cereal, pretzels, and almond bark, feel free to make it your own with your family’s favorite add-ins. Want a little peanut butter swirl? Go for it! Swap in red and green M&M’s for Christmas or pastel ones for Easter—it’s super easy to customize and always so much fun!
Melt your almond bark using a double boiler or the microwave—both work great! If you’re using white morsels instead, just melt two packages with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil as a substitute for candy coating. Easy and delicious either way!
Pour your melted chocolate over your dry ingredients.
Spread this mixture on wax paper. This is where you’ll want to add any sprinkles!
Your guests are going to love this sweet and salty treat at your Fourth of July celebration! It’s the perfect snack to have on hand while everyone’s hanging out, playing games, or waiting for the fireworks show to begin. Festive, easy to grab, and totally addictive—don’t be surprised if the bowl is empty before the first firework goes off!
