I am not much of a Target shopper. (At all.) However, we have some travel plans coming up and needed to stock up on easy breakfast items for the road, so I had just about decided to just head on over to Sam’s Club and pay WAY too much. (My daughter and I made a quick run there for lunch, and I was shocked at how high their prices are . . . seriously, do NOT think that you’re getting great savings by shopping at warehouse stores . . .their price was almost $.07 per Pop Tart higher without using a single coupon!)

Okay . . . hopping down from my pedestal now 😉

So, after posting a few great Target deals this morning (and really wanting those $.99 Rice Krispies Treats . . . ) I decided to try my luck at Target. Let me tell, you, I’m so stinkin’ glad I did!  Here’s what I found in the Pop Tart aisle (my hubby specifically requested Pop Tarts however they’re a very rare purchase in our home. . . )

Do you see that logo at the top?  Yup, that meant there were tons of coupons inside those boxes!  So as Little Miss Reagan hollered “Momma . . . you can’t open all the boxes!” at the very top of her sweet little lungs, I proceeded to open every single one that I was going to purchase, landing some pretty fun coupons!  Each box contained 4-5 coupons, some even for $2 off milk when you purchase 2 gallons of milk and 2 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal.  (WOOHOO!)  So, here’s what I grabbed for $20 plus tax . . .

And here’s how I did it:

Transaction #1

Bought 5 Pop Tarts $2.50 each

Bought 2 Rice Krispies Treats $1.99 each

Bought 2 Nutri Grain Bars $2.50 each

  • Used $1/3 Pop Tarts (coupon found in box)
  • Used $1/2 Nutri Grain Bars (coupon found in box)
  • Paid $19.48 plus tax out of pocket, received (2) $5 Target Gift Cards

Transaction #2

Bought 3 Eggo Waffles $2 each

Bought 2 Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats $1.99 each

  • Used $1/3 Kellogg’s Eggo Waffles (recent printable, no longer printing)
  • Used $10 Target Gift Cards from Transaction #1
  • Paid nothing out of pocket, received (1) $5 Target Gift Card (still had a little change left on the first gift card)

*Note: You could also use this $1/2 Nutri Grain Bar coupon on the Target website

Transaction #3

Bought 1 Swiffer Duster Starter Kit $4.99

Bought 1 Swiffer Duster Refills On Sale $8.99

  • Used Buy 1 Swiffer Starter Kit Get Refill Free from 3/4/12 RP (valid on any item up to $9, so the sale was perfect!)
  • Used $5 Target Gift Card
  • Total was $5.57 before gift cards, so I ended up paying nothing for those and still have $.08 left on my gift card!

I have to say I was pretty excited, because lately I seem to stay so busy sharing deals that I don’t have enough hours in my day to actually get a few of the deals that I post.  I absolutely love sharing deals, but really like enjoyed getting a few of them myself! 🙂

Okay . . . so here are your Target extra finds that my buddy Shannon found today also. (Whew . . . sorry to be so long winded this afternoon . . . guess that’s what happens when they set me lose in Target for an hour!)

I sooo wish I had bumped into you at Target! I would have loved to see that. You prob got one too, but I got a coupon for the new Target on 72 $5 off $50 (I think). The new store opens Mar 11th. Maybe we’ll also see some grand opening deals?

    • Laurie says

I was so excited Cheryl! The new store actually opened last night (I’m not sure why they didn’t advertise it….) I was there this morning and sure enough those Pop Tarts were too! 🙂 No grand opening deals though…. (I was kinda surprsed!)

I didn’t get the $5 off coupon – lucky you! I’m going to have to watch for it (sure hope we see one, I would love that!) 🙂

Laurie-I wanted to post to make sure you saw it…I read about you using shoulder roast and about croaked when i saw the price at Publix when it was “on sale” this past week. If you have a Foodland anywhere near you, shoulder roast will be on sale for $2.78 a pound starting tomorrow and the two Foodlands near me always have great meat!!

    • Laurie says

It’s outrageous how expensive it is! I looked at Sam’s today and the cheapest I could find was a chuck roast for $3.97/lb., but it was way more than we would use (and not really the cut I wanted!) We don’t have a Foodland anywhere around… but surely someone’s gotta have it on sale better than Publix! (I was going to by an extra one this week, but at that price I just couldn’t do it.)

Thanks for letting me know! (I need to find out where a Foodland is at….)

  3. candie says

does anyone know how i might be able to print target coupons. i used to be able to, but now cannot. I have a laptop with windows7.

    • Laurie says

Hey Candie! Have you tried switching your internet browser? (Sometimes I have better luck in Google Chrome or Mozilla than Internet Explorer ….)

    • Laurie says

I noticed that the ones for cinnamon and strawberry were different (those were the only two I bought). I was hoping for some Rice Krispie Treat coupons!

  4. Bree says

Were the coupons in booklet form? Or did you cut them out of the boxes? If they are in booklet form does that mean it’s okay to use them like peelies?

    • Laurie says

They were actually booklets in a plastic sleeve attached to the inside of the boxes – so I didn’t have to cut them out (although there were also $1/2 coupons attached to the boxes for the Pop Tart Crisps, which some stores would allow you to cut off but I wasn’t sure about Target.) If I wasn’t sure I was going to buy them (like, COMPLETELY sure), I obviously wouldn’t have opened them…. but since I knew I’d be taking them home with me I did get them out.

(Of course, I sure hope I’m not giving anyone ideas to open them and not purchase them…. you all know better than that though, right?) Hope that helps Bree! 🙂

      • Mary says

I actually wouldn’t put it past anyone to open them Laurie. Back months ago when Aunt Jemima had coupons inside their waffle boxes, the Publix in Decatur had a freezer full of boxes opened.
