Your kids will love getting to plant magic jelly beans that grow into lollipops in this fun Easter activity!
Magic Jelly Bean Garden – Try This with The Kids For Easter!
Easter is almost here and this Magic Jelly Bean Garden is such a fun way to celebrate with your kids! In this activity, kids “plant” jelly beans in the garden and are amazed when they sprout into lollipops for Easter. Grab this gardening set and get them excited!
Your kids will love the fun of getting to plant their own little jelly bean seeds, cover them up, and wait from them to grow. You can let them in on the fun to know what will sprout, or you can keep the end to yourself and stick lollipops in the ground and watch their amazement on Easter morning.
You don't have to wait for Easter if you'd rather a quicker turnaround – they'll be just as excited if you plant one day and have grown lollipops the next 😉
Here's how to make this fun springtime activity for your kids.
Supplies needed for Magic Jelly Bean Garden:
- Jellybeans and lollipops of your choice
- Garden shovel
How to Do a Magic Jelly Bean Garden with Lollipops for Kids:
Start by picking a spot in your yard or garden where the kids can dig small holes to plant their seeds. A note for parents – just make sure you remember where exactly your jellybeans are planted so you know where to sprout the lollipops!
Planting the Jelly Beans:
You can do one jellybean per hole, or a few like we did. Drop the beans into the hole and have your kids cover gently with soil.
Revealing the “Growth” of the Lollipops:
When you're ready, stick one lollipop into each hole you planted. Surprise! If you leave the lollipops unattended, I would recommend keeping the wrapper on until they're ready to “harvest”.
Could you do a Jelly Bean Garden inside?
Yes! If you don't have a good spot outside to plant or the weather isn't cooperating, you can absolutely make a magic jelly bean garden inside. Just grab a couple small pots and fill with whatever you have on hand like faux moss. I used dry black beans because I had them handy!
Plant the jelly bean the same way you would outside and wait for them to grow.
