Korean BBQ Ribs Recipe
Update – We had this for dinner tonight and my husband loved it, and I thought it was pretty good too! It was a yummy twist on our normal Crock Pot ribs recipe, and the meat fell right off the bone (I don't think I've ever seen rib meat fall off that easily!)Â
This recipe seems almost too good to be true! I just dumped it all in my crock pot (have I mentioned I love my crock pot?) and in just ten minutes I've got dinner ready to go (I LOVE THAT!) I'm incredibly curious as to whether or not we'll like them or not, so you'll have to stop back tonight for the verdict.
I found the recipe over at Crockpot for a Year, and you really need to go HERE to check out the reviews (apparently these are awesome!)Â Because I LOVE my Italian Beef Crockpot recipe (which also calls for peppers), I decided to be courageous enough to try it.Â
*Note – My neighbor Sarah just puts her ribs in the crock pot and covers with Barbecue Sauce (BOGO this week) and adds an onion. If you think there's no way your family would go for this, that's a great easy option too!
Here's what you'll need. . .
3 lb. package of beef or pork short ribs
We used pork because they're on sale for $1.99/lb. at Publix this week! The smallest package I could find was four pounds, so I bought 4 1/2 pounds and had the butcher cut and seperate it into two packages for me, so we have one for dinner tonight and one in the freezer for next time!
1Â cup soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
$.50/1 2 lbs. Domino Sugar HERE, Domino sugar is $2.29 at Publix (I made the mistake of not printing the coupon and had to buy 1 pound of the Publix brand for $1.09 – UGHHHH!, so print the coupon!)
4Â whole jalapeno peppers
$1.99/lb at Publix, they'll cost about $.50
1/2 cup water
Place ribs in crock pot. Cover with soy sauce, brown sugar WHOLE peppers (don't cut) and water. Cook on low eight hours. About 30 minutes before dinner turn the ribs over so that the juicy stuff completely covers both sides. Remove peppers and dinner is DONE!!!Â
Serve with . . .
Rice
Uncle Bens Rice BOGO $1.49, use $1/2 HERE or $.75/2 HERE or $1/1, $1/2 from 5/16 RP
OR Mahatma Brown Rice priced around $1.09, use $.50/1 from 4/25 RP
