Laurie, this futon sucks. Don’t worry, you didn’t persuade me to buy it, I was looking at reviews to see if anyone else got burned, and they did. This futon (I got on clearance and with an Kohl’s charge discount) was just under $100 at my local Kohl’s. I took it to my brand new apartment just moved out of my parents and it’s my first furniture. For a week it was great. After one of the backs wouldn’t support weight by itself so it was pushed to the wall were both backs are laid on the wall, it was hell to put together. Now, after 11 months, another of the mechanisms is failing. If it wasn’t so cheap, and my not minding pushing it to the wall. I would’ve returned this futon. You should not recommend this hell to anyone less you receive a similar fate.
