Jamie here! I felt a little bit ridiculous posing for my college kid to take fashion photos…. I think this particular face says it all! 😂
Jamie's Fall Wardrobe Favorites
I'm not a fashion expert and I don't buy new things very often, but if I had to pick just a few things to add to my closet for Fall – these would be it! Here are my 5 favorite Fall wardrobe picks. These will get me through Fall feeling a little bit trendy and a lot comfy.
- Tshirt Dress
- Denim Jacket
- Low Heeled Booties
- Fun Sweatshirt or Poncho Sweater
- Denim on Denim
- BONUS: Tunic + Leggings Combo

1 . T-Shirt Dress
My go-to bottom layer for Fall is a comfy t-shirt dress. Mine is a Universal Thread T-Shirt dress from Target, but I bought it earlier in the summer when they had a more scoop neck style in stock. This one is VERY similar though and only $15!
You might be saying that all this needs is a plaid scarf to make it more “Fallish” – but I have tried and failed with scarves and now I just say NO. Instead – I look to bigger accessories to draw the eye upwards. I snagged this necklace for just $7-$8 on Jane. They have lots of similar ones available! If you have a plain neckline that doesn't draw they eye upward towards your best features – a statement necklace can do the job instead 🙂
2 . Denim Jacket
A Denim jacket is really one of my favorite year round pieces – it allows you to pull more summery pieces into Fall effortlessly. I would pair mine with a tshirt dress, or over a sundress to dress it up a bit for church.
This Calvin Klein Denim Jacket in a light wash is my current fave (And was under $20!) – it has some stretch to it and is NOT bulky at all. It hides any love handles you might have and all manner of upper body lumps and bumps 😉 Here are a couple similar ones I like:
3 . Low-Heeled Booties
My booties are from the Goodwill (Eurosoft brand) and I love them! They are super practical and because they have both grey and brown leather – go with lots of things. They're also water resistant so wet leaves can kiss my booties (ha!) I don't care for high heels or pointy toes – so the booties I would wear are more rounded, with a low stacked heel.
Here are a few I like online that won't break the bank!
- Walmart: Cute $15 Booties
- Kohl's: SO Celery Women's BootiesÂ
- Amazon: SODA Multistrap or Perforated Booties
- Target: Women's Nora Cut-Out Booties
4. Denim on Denim
Flannel is Forever – but this Fall I added a denim button down into the mix. Think of it as a “neutral” alternative to a flannel 🙂 The light wash denim seems summery to me – but is totally in for Fall!
I bought this Universal Thread denim shirt at Target and am pairing it with these Universal Thread Dark Wash Jeans.  (The shirt also comes in Medium Blue and Darker Blue)
If I had colored jeans (I'm thinking black, maroon or burnt orange?) it would probably look pretty good with those too. But I don't…. Maybe someday soon!
**If you like these slip on shoes – they're the Muriel Sneakers I ordered from JustFab!
5 . A Fun Sweatshirt
Sweatshirts are back in a big way -and I say YAY for comfy practical clothing being back in again!
My friend Tiffany sells these ADORABLE Bee sweatshirts in her shop (there's a fox sweatshirt too). I finally got myself one and I LOVE IT! It is my MOST complimented item of clothing. PPP readers get free shipping right now with code PPPSHIP. 🙂
If you want to be a bit less casual – Ponchos are big right now as well. Think of them as the sweatshirt's fancy cousin….
I think getting yourself one new cozy piece each Fall is totally reasonable. I know it's going to get worn a ton and I always promise myself I will get rid of one of my hoodies or sweaters that is made up almost entirely of fuzzballs to make room 🙂
6 . Leggings + Tunic Top
I would also include leggings and a long tunic-length top to my list of essentials. But I ran out of room for my 5 things! These are basics that make you feel comfortable and happy as you run around town.
I recommend getting a quality pair of high-waisted black leggings that fit like friendly Spanx (supportive but not painful)
Fabletics Leggings
*2 Pair for $24 on your first order – I have 2 pair of these and love them!
Eluminary Compression Leggings (show in image above)
*These USA-Made leggings are buttery soft, have a nice wide waistband and even a key/card pocket. Use code PPPSHIP to get free shipping!
Zella Live-In Leggings
*Highly-rated Nordstrom Best-Sellers!
Pair them with a nice long top that drapes well, and covers the rear.Â
I love this Soft Everyday Tunic from OldNewAgain in Dark Blush Frost – it's a Size Large and covers everything so well! It's also INCREDIBLY soft and has some nice detailing.
It's just $15 Shipped right now with code PPP15bucks – so super affordable too!

What about the shoes you are wearing with the leggings. Those are cute!
