If you whip up a big batch of cookie dough and can't finish them, here is how you can flash freeze cookie dough. Perfect for cookies anytime!
How to Flash Freeze Cookie Dough
Love warm homemade cookies but hate making a mess in your kitchen?Â
Here's how to make the dough ahead of time, flash freeze the cookies, and then you can whip up a batch whenever you'd like!
You'll want to start by mixing up your favorite cookie dough (my favorite is this Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe – the best EVER).
Then drop the cookies in spoonfuls onto baking sheet (I place them close together since they won't bake together on a sheet, you're just using the sheets to freeze them.)
Next, place your cookie dough in freezer while on baking sheets and freeze the dough until completely frozen.
Last, remove the frozen cookie dough from freezer and place into large plastic bags or plastic storage container. (I've read that you should wrap them with in plastic or wax paper first, but have never done that and the dough has been just fine.)
You can store flash frozen cookies for up to 3 months – just be sure to label with the date when you place them in the freezer.
Once you're ready to bake, place on parchment paper and bake according to original cookie dough recipe. Enjoy!
(See how I recently whipped up a triple batch of chocolate chip cookies before flash freezing over HERE. Yikes!)

Great way to have several cookie choices. Before adding chips and nuts split batter and make several types, white chocolate and cruising, pecan and chocolate, cinnamon chips and raisins…

I would do this for my grandma (who lived in another state), because she loved my cookies! She just took what she wanted, and baked small batches at a time! I have done this for home also; but my family eats my cookies too fast!

I love that – how sweet and what a gift for her. Thanks so much for sharing Christine!

I am definitely going to be doing this! But first..do you thaw the frozen cookies before baking them or can you just pop them in the oven frozen?
Laurie says
I just pop them in the oven – they may take an extra minute to bake (I watch the closely) but it works perfectly!
