Easy Dirt Cake Recipe for Easter
I found this recipe on Pinterest, and thought it would be so fun to make for Easter this year!Â
This recipe is very simple to do, doesn't take a lot of fancy ingredients, and is perfect as a kid treat for your Easter dinner.  In fact, it's easy enough that your kiddo could even help make it with you.
Ingredients needed:
- Oreo cookies
- cream cheese
- butter
- powdered sugar
- vanilla
- cool whip topping
- instant chocolate pudding
- milk
- decorations for cake – edible grass, peeps, candy eggs
Have you seen all the crazy flavors of Peeps they have now?! You could really jazz up this cake with some of those flavors – maybe a chocolate cake with Dr. Pepper peeps 🙂Â
Here's how to make this dirt cake recipe:
Start by crushing your cookies in a food processor and set aside. Next, grab a large bowl and mix together your cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
Mix in the powdered sugar and then fold in half of the whipped topping. Pour that mixture into a 13×9 pan and chill for 10 minutes.
Combine milk and pudding mix, whisk until slightly thickened. Chill in 10 minutes and fold in the remaining whipped topping.
Spread the pudding mixture on top of the cream cheese mixture, and then sprinkle with the oreo crumbs.
Decorate then however you'd like! So fun! 🙂
If you have extra Peeps – maybe consider using Peeps for Easter decorating – it turns out SUPER cute!

How did you make the carrots?

I keep re-reading the recipe and am hoping you can clarify. At what point do I add the 1 cup of powdered sugar? Maybe I’ve been just staring at it too long!
Laurie says
Hi Chris! Sorry about that! You’ll add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese/butter/vanilla mixture before adding the whipped topping! (Just updated the recipe!) Hope that helps! 🙂
