Coffee Filter Watercolors – Earth Day Craft for Preschoolers
Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd! Such a fun day of the year to celebrate the amazing and beautiful Earth we live on. Earth Day crafts are a great way to get kids involved in the fun and think about God's wonderful creation.
Preschoolers LOVE to flex their little creative muscles. This Earth Day craft of Preschoolers is CRAZY EASY for mom to set up, and kids will have a wonderful time creating their own watercolor Earth. And, as a bonus, it requires so little supplies and you likely have everything already!
If you have little siblings to get in on the fun, try this super easy Earth Day Craft for Toddlers!
Supplies Needed for this Earth Day Craft for Preschoolers
- White coffee filters
- Green and blue washable markers
- Spray bottle (nothing fancy, just a regular old spray bottle like this one or from the dollar store!)
How to Make Coffee Filter Watercolor Earth
Have your kiddos use the green and blue markers to color in the coffee filter. You can show them a picture of Earth to guide them, or just let them be creative!
Once the coffee filter is colored in, place on a plate or into a pan and gently spray with water. You'll see the colors start to blend together to create a beautiful watercolor effect.
Note: be careful not to use too much water because the colors will wash off.Â
Move to a towel or paper towel to dry. You can speed up the drying time by using a fan or hair dryer.
Once dry, admire your beautiful planets! You can add to this craft by making a bunch of different Earths, using a single hole punch to punch a hole on top, and threading a string through to make a garland. (We didn't do this because mom was tired, but you can! 😉 )
I kind of love the print that is leftover on the paper towel, too! You could cut out this circle as part of your craft.
