Cabot Creamery Butter Recalled

More than 1700lbs of Cabot Butter is being recalled after it was found to be contaminated by bacteria commonly found in fecal matter.  Eww….   Here’s what you need to know:

  • Product: Cabot 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Sea-Salted Butter
  • Cause: Presence of Coliform, bacteria often found in animal digestive tracks (and feces)\
  • 7 States Affected: New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Arkansas.
  • UPC: 0 78354 62038 0
  • Best By: Sept. 9, 2025

The company has stated that they have “successfully recovered 99.5% of the lot of the recalled product before it was sold to consumers. A small amount – 17 retail packages (8.5 lbs.) – was sold to consumers in Vermont.”  This is a Class 3 Recall which means that it is a non-serious threat to public safety, according to the FDA.
