4 Days To Prepare Your Home For The Holidays
Sometimes, I come up with challenges for you here on PPP, completely to serve myself.
This was one of those times. 🙂Â
We're having fourteen people at our house during Thanksgiving, which as a deal blogger happens to be my busiest week of the entire year.
Um, what was I thinking when I signed up for this one?Â
So, I'm determined to spend the next four days really tackling my home, so that I can still enjoy one of my favorite holidays ever next week.
One of the biggest challenges in my kitchen has always been cleaning my oven.
I've tried homemade cleaning products, heavy duty cleaning products, and simply the let's-not-ever-clean-this-silly-disaster-and-pray-our-home-doesn't-catch-fire method, but it wasn't until I added it to our 4 Days to Prepare Your Home for the Holidays to do list (on the first day, mind you . . . ), that it actually got done.
Y'all aren't even going to believe what I used to clean it.
I mean really folks, this one was pretty tough.
I pushed.
the self cleaning.
button.Â
(insert deep breath here.)
In the last 41 years I've lived in fear of the self-cleaning button in my oven (I don't know why, but every time I've pushed it in the past the smell and just the fact that I couldn't see in the thing has had me terrified), so not one single time in my entire life have I used that glorious thing.
y'all.Â
YOU NEED TO PUSH THE BUTTON. (if you're lucky enough to have it.)
Then this morning I took a little of my all time favorite Mrs. Meyer's Cream Cleanser to along with some hot water, cleaned up the oven window and wiped down the sides really well. (That's also what I use to clean my stainless.)
I even dusted off the sides of the oven door (I HAD NO IDEA DUST GOT IN THERE?), and freshened up the front of that glorious oven too.
Success.Â
If you're like me and the oven taunts you ~ have courage sweet friend. 🙂
Use the self cleaning oven button, and leave the oh-my-word-there-are-dust-bunnies-in-my-oven-about-to-burn-up-worres behind.Â
I also tackled the rest of my morning list, and am planning to finish up this evening's chores later this afternoon.
But for now?Â
Here's my cleaned up kitchen in all it's glory. And after a few more days of cleaning it'll be ready for turkey-roasting success. 🙂
