If you've had trouble downloading the PDF version of the Home Planner (or any of the Passionate Penny Pincher products) we're going to give you some tips on how to do that here!
Many PDF files are very large and will open best on a laptop or desktop computer. Due to the size of some of these files, they may not open completely on a mobile device (the files are graphic heavy with lots of pages). Also, with large files like these, it may take longer to download depending on your internet connection.
As an alternative, the links can be saved to your computer or on your mobile device storage location (like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneNote or Adobe Reader).
NOTE: If you want to save the wear & tear on your own printer, we HIGHLY recommend sending the files over HERE to Print Me 1, and they will print it and send a bound book straight to your house. We have had a great experience with them!
1. How to Download A PDF File to My Computer
First, you'll need to be on a desktop or laptop to open a large PDF file. Often, there won't be enough room on your mobile device to hold all of the data.
- Open your email with the links to the PDF files.
- Click on the link in your email to open the PDF into a browser window.
- Once that window is open, you can click on the down arrow to save the file to your computer (as in the image below).
- Once the file is on your computer you'll be able to open it at any time.
2. Tricks to Downloading a Large PDF File
Here are two tricks we've used to download those large PDF files. Normally one of these two things work.
First, make sure you are downloading them on a computer and not a mobile device. The file has too many graphic elements for a mobile device to handle.
Second, if the first tip doesn't work try changing browsers. For whatever reason, one browser works over another. This means if you're using Explorer, then change to Google Chrome or Firefox. And again, make sure you are on a computer and downloading it not just opening it.
3. How to Print My PDF File
Now that you have your PDF files, you might like to print them out. If you have a printer at home, you should be all set. Be sure to print your PDF file from the download. Often, if you try and print from the link in the email, you might miss a page or ingredient.
If you don't have a printer, here are a few ways to print your PDFs without a printer! All our files come with a one-time print release, which will allow you to print the files at a local print shop (i.e., Staples, Office Depot, etc…)
4. How to Manage My Editable PDF File
Some of our products come with a BONUS editable PDF file. These files are great if you want to add your own information on your computer (or device)! To help troubleshoot these files be sure to open them in a browser. If the file doesn't appear to be editable on a specific browser, be sure to try a different one. Sometimes one browser allows editable capability on a PDF and another one won't.
If changing your browser doesn't work, try the instructions above in number 1 to download the file. Then use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file OR another program like Preview, etc…

Is there a way to save the recipes to a usb?
Alice -PPP Team says
Hi Mary! You should be able to save a PDF file to a USB drive from a computer. I hope that helps! 🙂

I printed the entire 92-page Low Calorie Menu digital file (from the copy I downloaded from my e-mail) and half the text is missing from each page! I did print in gray-scale, but I don’t think that shouldn’t make a difference…
Even after I go into the pdf and edit the text to make the missing words black they still don’t print! I thought about taking this to a printer to pay for color pages, but if text is going to be missing I don’t want to waste my money!

Oh no Erika ~ I would maybe try downloading the PDF again to see if it displays correctly the second time! If you have any more trouble, you can email us at shop@passionatepennypincher.com, and we’ll be happy to help! 🙂

Missing text from printed PDFs is usually an issue with your printer not having enough memory. There is a way in the settings to have it use your computer’s memory…you can Google the specifics for your printer/ operating system.

The: Blank Recipe Card (Pink Scale) Editable Download from my Low Calorie meal plan comes up as: Page not found. How can I get these? I have purchased ALL of the downloadable plans and this is the only one to give me problems.

So after emails back and forth I still can not edit the checklist at the top of the one page weekly checklist that is supposed to be editable. You need to let people know that this part of the page is not editable, only the portion below is editable.
