The Friday Fluff Up: Chalkboard Contact Paper

Since it’s a crazy day around here (Happy Birthday to my hubby!), I’m re-posting one of my favorite ever Friday Fluff Ups. Amazon has their Chalkboard Contact Paper on sale right now for $7.96, and I’m betting you could find so many creative uses for it. Enjoy!

So, of course, I had to try it. I have exactly the same pantry, but even if you don’t have this pantry you could add this to your kitchen cabinets . . . I love the idea of adding it to my baking supply cabinet and will be adding it there next!

When I saw the idea initially I thought it used chalkboard paint, which I thougth would be cute, but also a bigger project than I was up for today.  But, when I saw in used chalkboard contact paper (brilliant!), I knew I had to try it. 

(I have to confess: I have a contact paper addiction . . . when my hubby & I were first married I wallpapered the kitchen walls with contact paper because I couldn’t handle how ugly they were.  It peeled right off when it was time to move!  I wouldn’t recommend this because there’s no guarantee it will peel off, but I got lucky and it made a really ugly kitchen pretty cute. 🙂 )

Here’s what you’ll need . . .

• Chalkboard Contact Paper (I ordered it at Amazon for $7.96, but as Kristen mentioned on the PPP Facebook page, you could also use Gowrite Dry Erase Rolls if you have chalk allergies or prefer a dry erase board.  Note that the amount included in what I ordered would have been just enough to do both sides of my pantry had I measured before I cut . . . so if you’d like to use it in another spot be sure to measure and get just what you need!)
• Scissors to cut contact paper to size
• A plastic card to smooth down any bumps (I used my hubby’s Lowe’s gift card from Christmas)
• Chalk (All I have is my children’s fat sidewalk chalk which is difficult to write neatly with . . . I’ve got to hunt down some skinny chalk!)
