Slow Cooker Meat Lovers Chili
Cheree here! I've been making this meat lovers chili for my bunch for several years and it's a favorite in our house. In fact, my hubby actually entered it in a chili cook-off at work and won 1st place! That's how good it is!

Cold nights are still hanging around some areas so I wanted to go ahead and share this amazing chili recipe with you. This chili is full of meat and beans and is mixed with a combo of garlic and tomatoes. It's simply the best and just about the perfect man food! 🙂
We like to top ours with some chili cheese Frito's, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream. Don't judge, ha!
Ingredients needed for meat lovers chili:
- lean ground beef
- breakfast sausage
- garlic
- yellow onion
- chili powder
- salt
- pepper
- dried oregano
- crushed tomatoes
- tomato sauce
- pinto beans
- optional toppings: corn chips, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream
How to make meat lovers chili:
Brown the ground beef, sausage, garlic and onions all together in a large skillet or stock-pot until the meat is done. Be sure to drain well. It's a lot of meat so you might need 2 pans if you don't have a big skillet.
Add the meat mixture to your crock-pot along with the chili powder, salt, pepper, oregano, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and drained pinto beans.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or on high 3-4 hours.
You can add some water to the slow cooker if you prefer a thinner consistency before serving.
Top the slow cooker meat lovers chili with all the good stuff! Frito's, shredded cheese, sour cream and sliced green onions. Yum!
Meat Lovers Chili
Equipment
- 1 Crock-pot
Ingredients
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups chopped yellow onion
- 4 Tbsps chili powder
- 2 tsps salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tsps oregano
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 2 (15 oz) cans pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- optional toppings: corn chips, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef, sausage, garlic and onions until meat is browned and crumbly; drain well.
- Transfer meat mixture to slow cooker and add remaining ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low 6 hours or high 3-4 hours.
- Add desired amount of water to slow cooker if you prefer a thinner consistency before serving.

Can you make chili on the stove-top?
Absolutely! Just follow all the instructions above and instead of putting all the ingredients in the slow cooker just use a big stock-pot and dump all those ingredients right in with the meat. Bring to a simmer and let it cook at least 20 minutes or longer. I will do this in a pinch when I haven't planned my mornings well enough to get it going in the crock-pot.
