I hope you've had just a wonderful day!
I wanted to try out a new nightly feature here on PPP, and  would love to hear your thoughts on this one if you have just a minute today.
Almost every day, our family tries to save on something, so I thought it would be fun to show you how we've saved each day.Â
And, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if you'd take a minute to share how you're saving too. (It's no fun for me to talk to just sit over here and talk to myself each day! You can leave a comment right over HERE.) 🙂Â
Okie dokie, here's how I saved today:
- Took my girls to our local water park ~ it was bring a friend day for $12.99 (we just got the girls summer memberships since it's hard to find neighborhood pools in Ohio), so we paid $12.99 for me (regularly $29.99).
- Scored 50¢ Wendy's Frosty Ice Creams along with free cups of water on the way home ~ spent $1.09 total for 2 frosties for the girls (I *think* most Wendy's are offering this over the summer ~ such a fun little frugal treat in the summertime!)
- Paid $9 for Papa John's pizza tonight after the 40% off coupon we posted over HERE. I really really really should have made dinner at home tonight (we have plenty of freezer meals in the freezer!), but after just being out late last night I forgot to pull a meal out this morning. I'm heading to the freezer this evening as soon as I finish up this post to make sure to get dinner done tomorrow!
- Cancelled our Xbox Live Membership ~ this has been a HUGE bone of contention in our home as our kids have never used this membership but we've tried to cancel numerous times in the past without any success. (The cost is $30 every three months ~ I'm embarrassed to say my husband catches it on our debit card once a quarter, but for whatever reason it just never seems to get completely erased ~ ugh!) After a 75 minute phone call today I *think* I finally have that membership completely cancelled, so I'm thrilled to save $120 this year finally (especially since our kids never even use our Xbox!)
And, while we didn't use this today I am loving all the deals that are in our Entertainment Book which I just ordered for $7.76 with the code JULY4 at checkout. I'm not sure how much longer the code lasts, but ours included BOGO zoo passes, water park passes, OODLES of restaurant coupons (at restaurants we actually go to), and is well worth the $7 cost! If you're interested in one, hurry over HERE to snag one for your hometown.
Have YOU saved big today? I'd love to hear what you've done to save some moolah ~ leave a comment to share!
By the way ~ we could save WAY more by staying home, but today was one of those rare days when we actually had time to scoot out a bit (something we really don't do all that often.) Hopefully in the next few days we'll have a no-spend day rather than a spend-less day, we'll see! 😉Â

Love these posts. I don’t love however when you feel you have to justify little things at the end and say I should have eaten dinner at home etc. You have a life an awesome one from what I see! It can’t all be sitting at home. I am all about free things, cooking at home and other deals but I work hard and so do you so if you want your own frosty you get it! It’s much deserved!!!!
Laurie says
🙂 Thank you Nina for sharing that! I think sometimes due to the large amount of unkind words on the internet I go into a post like this one expecting a few folks to remind me that I could have just stayed home and spent nothing all day, so I feel like I have to do a little justifying. But you’re so right, and I appreciate you saying that ~ some days a 50¢ frosty is just what we need! 🙂

I went to Carter’s on Saturday. Saved a bundle on clearance clothes for my grandsons and gift for a friend who recently had a baby girl. The cashier asked if I was buying clothes for my grandkids. Well…yes I was. She then told me that grandma’s get 10% discount. I don’t know if all Carter’s do this, but I was thrilled to save even more. Thank you Carter’s!

I got market pantry frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts@Target today for $4.24. It was on sale for $4.99 and there was a cartwheel for 15% off. The cartwheel is good for frozen and fresh chicken.

love it. went to Walgreen’s for the BOG1 vitamins, had a BOG1 coupon for Febreze,25cents off Dawn, had to pick up a scrip which gave me 2 coupons, one for 5000 extra points, one for 3000 so I split it up. one order with victims the other with the rest so I got an extra 8000 point.

We also took advantage of those yummy 50 cent frosty’s!!! 🙂 Took a free bike ride last night also.

Very nice. I like this feature.

Today is my daughters 1st birthday so I made pancakes and eggs, and since I didn’t feel like paying for a box of bisquick I made homemade, and had all the ingredients. Lunch will be MAC n’ Cheese one of her favorites and I already have some in the pantry. For dinner we will order a pizza and her birthday present was even under $20 and shipped free with my Amazon Prime membership. Yay for savings!!!
Laurie says
You did awesome Amanda – I love that!!! And, happy birthday to your cute baby girl ~ my favorite memories are when my kids were little especially on days like that (and I love that you’re smart enough to keep it simple at that age – so fun!) 🙂
Brenda says
I rarely get to see your live Facebook videos so this is a great for me since I’m a late night FB person. My sister and I have been taking my son and 5 grandkids on weekly day trips to our wonderful state parks here in Ohio! Beaches, hiking and safaris along with packed lunches and then dinner in the park consisting of grilled hotdogs and various finger foods packed in our ever present cooler! It’s a summer long vacation for all of us! Keep up your great work in keeping us informed on how to save! Love all your posts!
Laurie says
So fun Brenda – what a fun way to save (I love the parks systems here in Ohio!) Thank you for sharing (and taking the time to read at night!) Blessings! 🙂
Theresa says

WOOHOOOOO Donna – I *love* Michael’s and I *really* love it when I can save big there! 🙂

I love hearing how you saved money on entertaining the kiddos! I pass this info on to my grown children to help them with the Grand kids. Please do include this feature as often as you can! Have a great summer!
Laurie says
Thanks so much Kathy for sharing – I’m going to try to keep it up as much as I can because I think it’ll be fun for me too! Thanks for reading (and sharing!) PPP! 🙂
Dusty says
I like this idea! I try to save in any activity we do, but we still love to do fun things. Saturday we hit the 10:00 a.m. movie so tickets were only $5 each. We also signed up for the theatre loyalty program and the kids each got a small bag of popcorn. It was fantastic!
Laurie says
Love that Dusty! We don’t go to movies all that often, but when we do I love finding ways to save (the $5 tickets are fantastic!) Thanks so much for sharing your fun way to save!
Judy key says
This is not a daily save but we save. Our saving us monthly. Each and every month we put money in our savings accounts. N addition to our regular amount, any money left at end of month over a certain mney goes in savings. This year, we opened a Christmas savings account. In November we’ll be sent our money for Christmas. Then we’ll start one for 2018. It’s not daily but this is how we save.
Laurie says
I love that Judy! We do the same thing by having regular savings accounts and it helps our budget all year long so much. I love that you’re doing the some ~ it makes seeing success in our budgets so much easier!
Nancy Wilbur says
Yes, please make this a regular feature on your blog. Saving$$ is intentional but not necessarily a fun spoiler.
Laurie says
I agree Nancy! It takes a little planning, but can be fun too 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

These posts sounds fun. I found some cute boxes today at Dollar Tree, also some sand toys. I’m going to use the boxes as gifts with something in them. Love that place.
Laurie says
I *love* the Dollar Tree too Karen ~ so many fun finds there! 🙂 Thanks for commenting!!!
Jaime says
I love this idea! I’ve been slipping into easy mode and need to start being more intentional with budgeting again.
Laurie says
I’ve been doing the same thing Jaime, so I’m hoping this will keep me motivated too! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Pam says
On the days I watch my grandkids this summer, we have found wonderful free activities in our area. Our local library does a great story hour with crafts afterwards on Fridays. The kids pick out DVD’s and books which are then free entertainment. We also hit the library playground when the weather cooperates.
Our local park system also has a free nature program once a month…excellent! They did bees in June, the next one is Ice Age in July, and turtles will be the topic in August. Afterwards, we eat a picnic lunch and complete a library letterbox hunt at the park. So much fun!
Laurie says
I love these ways to save Pam – so fun! We’ve been to the library as well and it’s definitely one of our favorite frugal places to visit – such a fun simple way to save! 🙂
