This would be the girl who's in charge of the timer each day ~ keep reading . . .
Okie dokie, I'm going to try something I've never done in three years of blogging, and I'm a little nervous about it to say the least.
This summer I've felt like I've been racing like a madwoman to keep up with the deals here on PPP, haul my kids around town to their summer activities, clean house, cook dinner, and really, just survive. It's been more than a little stressful, and my kids have watched their crazy momma get frustrated one too many times.
In order for me to enjoy a day (or even few hours) “off” with my family, I've stayed up 'til 2 or 3 in the morning before getting back up at 6 AM way too many days. I just can't don't want to keep it up these last few weeks of summer (and hope you understand!)
Sooooo….. for the next two weeks instead of my kiddos and me struggling to just survive summer, I've decided to slow down around here just a bit. 😉
Between Shannon and myself we'll post no more than five six? posts per day (yikes!) However, instead of getting tons of itty bitty posts, you'll get at least one big round up of deals each day.
My commitment to my kids is to spend no more than 2 hours on the computer (including managing Facebook, emails, and other general business stuff) through 8/12/13. My kids actually don't start school until 8/19/13, but I'm pretty sure by the 12th I'll be more than nuts!
My daughter already has a timer set out to track me with. (Seriously.) I'm just hoping to find some time to re-read a favorite book or two, try out a few new recipes, and maybe tackle a crafty project with a little help from my kiddos. (And did I mention clean???? Yup, that too.)
Here's what you can still expect to find here on PPP each day (except Sunday as always):
- All of our store coupon matchups (because Shannon is a rockstar. . . ) 😉
- Any store trip posts (we know you guys love those, and we love getting the deals too!)
- Back to school deals ~ as we're posting, those will definitely have a priority as we know you need those deals this time of year
- Possibly a recipe or two . . . we'll see how that goes . . .
- A daily (big!) roundup of the days top deals by 10 AM Central Time each morning
I hope you'll stick with us while we catch our breath for these two weeks. My husband is completely against this (he's afraid you'll leave and never come back), so can y'all please just do me a favor and prove him wrong? 😉
Shannon and I both absolutely love our work here to share deals with you all, and hope that you find it so helpful and that it really does bless your family. I'm so thankful to have such sweet readers, and know that I'm so incredibly fortunate to be able to work from home, save for our children's college funds, and give back some too.
Thanks so much for your patience these next two weeks . . . see you back in a bit.

I guess I will speak for the men or MAN :). I swear I think it gives me an edge at the stores being a man. Cashiers are usually taken aback by my couponing.
Best couponing site on the web…I have looked at tons of them. You cover it all and it is easy to find whatever one needs plus you know your prices! Couponing is a futile exercise without knowing PRICE. A couple of other sites I follow for stores you don’t shop at don’t know pricing like you do. I keep referring you all the time and I laugh when people at the stores ask me how do you do this? I always say Passionate Penny Pincher from Northern Alabama! My most recent referral was the manager of Whole Foods behind the customer service desk :).

So glad to have a guy’s point of view!!! 🙂 I think there might be a few other men who read but not too many … thanks so much for your kind words Jim (we love that you’re sharing it with folks ~ that means so much to me!)

That silly husband of yours…we’ll show HIM!!! 😉 Get some decent sleep and enjoy the time while you can. The deals will always be there and so will we!
Tammie says
Good for you! Go to bed earlier and get some sleep!
From Jen above: ” I doubt in ten years you’ll look back and regret skipping sharing a deal, but you’ll sure miss those kids once there gone!” I need to remember that myself—whether it is couponing, or whatever.
Laurie says
I appreciate each of your kind words and support so much ~ thank you so much for understanding! I really am so fortunate to have such sweet encouragement and it means more than you all know. Watch for the deal updates tomorrow! 🙂

You have been an inspiration to all of us, both in deals, coupons & family time…this has become my hobby off & on now w/my child in college & working 50 hrs week, so I completely understand needing that time too. You go and spend that precious time w/your children and we will be here awaiting your post when YOU have the time…No deal is really worth the time spent from your kids, because that time is priceless. Have a blessed summer!

Enjoy your time and your kids. They don't stay young but we will always be here. 🙂

Summer is a great time to recharge your battery, but you can’t do it if you’re always running on the red line. Believe me, your kids will be up and gone before you know it. Relax. Make some memories. XO

Laurie, I am a loyal and faithful reader for always! Even if you decided to post only one day a week! Family is ALWAYS, without exception, more important. God will bless this decision of yours! You and Shannon enjoy your family time!
Dawn says
Enjoy that time with your kids! Kids grow up so fast and the deals will always be here! One of the reasons I love your blog is because you are so real! I will be here when you get back so tell your hubby that your readers understand! Enjoy your break!

Yes! Do it, and enjoy your time with them.

Laurie, My favorite part of your blog is that you live in North Alabama! Sometimes it is easy to get excited about an unadvertised deal posted on another blog only to find out that deal is regional. I always check your blog daily so that I can see what is going on in our area… also if you find a coupon booklet, then I am likely to find it. Your number of posts per day doesn’t change that… I consider the information you provide valuable from a regional perspective. Thanks!

My kids go back to school on the 5th… in ONE week! So, take advantage of that time!

I will still be here! I love reading your blog! If it weren't for y'all working so hard to find the deals, I couldn't survive couponing! Thanks so much for what you do! Enjoy your free time with your family! The children grow up too fast!

Thanks so much for all you all do!!!! I definitely understand you needing a break, and will keep checking back to see the daily roundup each day. Thanks so much!
