I made a quick run to Costco this weekend (after joining a few weeks ago they sent me a few special coupons in the mail), and while I know this isn't a normal trip that everyone could get, it was too fun not to share! I was able to stock up on a ton of ground beef thanks to a $6 off meat purchase coupon that they mailed me, as well as a few freebies.
(Note: these coupons were sent because I just joined, so I don't think these come out normally!) Â
Here's what I bought:
- 40 pack Kirkland Water Bottles $3.89 – free after coupon
- 2 half gallons ice cream $10.99 – free after coupon (note: I think that is normally a really high price on the ice cream, and wouldn't have purchased it there without the free coupon!)
- 2 pack bagels $5.49 – free after coupon (again, I think that price is a little high for bagels, but definitely worth free!)
- 5.80 pounds ground beef $19.13, used $6 off coupon to make it $16.13 (the coupon made it $2.26/lb., which is a great price for beef right now!)
- 1 watermelon $3.99
- Total = $17.12
As always, it is so important to walk into Sam's, Costco, BJ's or any other warehouse store with a very specific budget in place, as it is EASY to go over budget there. I do think they have some good prices on produce, meat, and dairy items (as well as a few other items especially when they offer a sale!), but be careful to stick to your plan so you don't spend too much.
While I was there I did some quick price checking, and saw a few deals worth watching for! My favorites were the kids costumes priced at $12.99 – these looked like they were high quality, and perfect for Halloween.
This month you can get 220 loads of Kirkland fabric softener for $7.59 with their instant coupon – makes it $.03 per load and a great price!
Kirkland Laundry Detergent is also on sale after coupon, but I missed the price. It should make for a decent deal though, and I've heard good reviews on Kirkland brand detergent!
Also watch for Pedigree Dog Food priced at $19.49 for a 55 lb bag – I have no idea how this compares price wise to coupon shopping, so if you know, please leave a comment to share!
Kellogg's 72 ct Eggos $6.99 after instant coupon or $.09 per waffle
Propel Bottles 24 pack $8.99 after instant coupon or $.37 each
Windex cleaner 32 oz + 172 oz refill $9.19 after instant cleaner or $.04/oz
Gatorade 28 ct bottles or $.37 per bottle after instant coupon
Ground beef was $3.49 per pound
They also have mums for $15.99 at our local store – this seemed a little pricey to me, but I haven't seen the prices on them here at local nurseries, so maybe it's a decent price?
Curious how Sam's Club & Costco stock up? See more about who's got the best prices, and let us know what deals you've found at your local warehouse store if you shop them as well!

Those coupons come once a month in the mail

Hi Helen! Do coupons for the free items come once a month? (I would love if they do, but assumed those were because we were a new member!)

The mum plants are huge! You pull the plastic off and they are super big. Keep an eye as my store in MN had some this past Saturday morning that were a bit droopy looking. All they needed was a little water and some sun. They had them marked down to $5.00 each. They are beautiful and came back in less than a day with sun and water. Even at the $15 you had still fair price as others I had looked at earlier in the day were almost as much and 1/5th of the size.

Thanks Mari for sharing! They were big, I just wasn’t sure enough of a price to be sure! But I would be thrilled with them for $5 – what a great deal!

The Ice Cream is definitely worth the price! Its very yummy and its also two full half gallons, in regular store you get smaller then that! (Breyers/Dreyers). 🙂

It is a little bigger, but goodness, I paid $1.50 per container (I think it was 1.4 liter compared to Costco’s 1.6?) of Edy’s ice cream last week at Kroger, so that just seemed so high to me! I haven’t tasted it yet though, so maybe that will convince me Sherri 🙂
