Check out this fun list of Summer movies for kids. You can get a great discount on a movie, get out of the heat, and relax for a bit!
Summer Movies for Kids
Every summer we reach a point about 4 days in where the kids start announcing that they're B.O.R.E.D. Â That's why I like to have a few activities in my arsenal to break up the week.
These Summer movies for kids are a great way to have a fun summer outing on a budget! Â Here are the summer lineups for nationwide as well as some large regional theaters.
**NOTE: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, even these national offerings may vary by location. It is also a good idea to call ahead as restrictions tend to change rapidly these days 🙂Â
We typically see the three BIGGEST theaters (Regal, AMC, and Cinemark) participating in Summer movies for kids with discounts and specials.
Right now, none of these have confirmed for 2022, but this is a LONG running program, so we expect to see all of these announcements shortly!
We've got all the details listed below from prior years and also some other discounts that AMC and Cinemark have been offering so even if they don't offer their Summer Movies for kids program you can save if you're wanting to get out of the heat!
For 2021, Regal Cinemas again offered $1 Admission on Tuesdays & Wednesdays ALL summer long!  Schedules will vary based on times that your local theatre opens, so be sure to check the Regal Cinemas Summer Movie Schedule and see what your theatre is offering. They had some great movies last Summer – Smurfs, Dog's Way Home, LEGO Batman Movie, and more!
Cinemark – In 2019, we saw Cinemark offer a Summer Movie for Kids Clubhouse – where you could purchase a pass to see 10 Family Movies for $5!
Unfortunately, as of this moment, they don't have updated information on this program for 2022. They do offer some other discounts every day – so certainly take advantage of those if you have a Cinemark theatre near you.
- Cinemark Movie Club – 20% off concessions, waived online fees, and one 2D ticket per month
- Cinemark SuperSavers – Save on concessions and tickets
- Early Bird Discounts – Arrive for a movie before 1 PM and get a discount!
- Discount Tuesdays – Bring the whole family for discounted tickets
- Cinemark Senior Day – Special discount pricing for Seniors
- Student Discount – Show your student ID and get a discounted ticket
- Discount Family Day – Get tickets for just $1.25 for parties of 3 or more on Mondays
If we spot any kids discounts for the Summer we will definitely let you know!
AMC – For 2021, AMC offered a Summer for Kids Camp – giving admission to a kid-friendly movie and a KidsPack Snack (popcorn, drink and fruit snacks) for $4 Wednesdays at 10am all summer long. Again, we not heard of any plans for 2022 for this Summer camp quite yet.
Like Cinemark, they do offer some discounts available all year long that you may want to take advantage of:
- Discount Tuesdays – Become an AMC Stub Member to get this discount – this is valid for ANY showing on Tuesdays and you can also get a $5 Concession Cameo Bundle (popcorn and drink) on Tuesdays
- Discount Tickets before 5 pm – You can get a 30% discount on tickets EVERY DAY as long as your showing starts before 5 PM
- Student Discount – Show your student ID and get a discounted ticket
- Military Discount – Show your Military ID and get a discounted ticket
- $5 Fan Faves – Get a ticket for $5 for fan favorite movies (varies by location)
If you don't have a national theatre near you, but have a smaller local theatre, be sure to check with them and see if they have any Summer movies for kids they're offering. Here are a few regional offers we found for 2021:Â
Cineplex – $2.99 Family Movies on Saturday mornings at 11 AM. They don't have the offerings for 2021 yet listed, but hopefully they will shortly!
Harkins Theaters – In 2019 they offered a Season Pass to see 10 Weeks of movies (10 movies total) for $7! However, they do note on their website they will be offering the typical Summer Movies for Kids program, but they're working on a fun alternative. It definitely might be worth keeping an eye on if you have a Harkins Theatre in your area.
Marcus Theatres – In 2019, Marcus Theatres offered $3 Tickets for Family Movies on Sunday, Monday & Wednesday mornings at 10am.
This year they don't yet have a mention of a Family Friendly program for the Summer, however, they do offer discounts through the week for various showings. (Plus don't miss the ULTIMATE Popcorn Tub!)
- Military Discount – Show your military ID and grab a ticket for just $7.50
- $5 TuesdaysÂ
- $6 Student Thursdays – Valid with a school ID
- Early Bird Movies – Movies before 11 AM are just $6!
- Young at Heart Discount – If you're 60 or older, grab a special discounted price
Showcase Cinemas – In 2019, Bookworm Wednesdays allow kids to get FREE movie admission when they present a book report on a book they've read!  Accompanying parent and children 6 and under will receive free admission as well. The schedule for 2022 is not yet released, but we are hopeful they'll continue this fun Summer Movies for kids program again this year.
Megaplex Theatres – Get 10 weeks of Summer Movies for Kids for just $10 (That's only $1 PER MOVIE!). This is one of the best promos we saw in 2021, so definitely hop on this one if you have a Megaplex near you 🙂  They do have a few restrictions to keep in mind, so check those out before heading out so you know what to expect.
Phoenix Theatres – This is an AWESOME one if you have one of these theatres in your area. In 2021, you could see FREE kids movies on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10 am. It is select showings but perfect if you're looking for something to do!
If your family loves spending time together watching movies – you also might want to consider a video projector and outdoor movie screen (or one like this!) so you can make backyard movie nights a new tradition 🙂
Have you seen any other local theatres offering Summer Movies for Kids at a discount? Let us know and we will get them added to the list!Â
