Thinking about throwing a backyard movie night this summer or fall? Check out everything you need and some fun tips too!
Throw a Fall Backyard Movie Night!
Laura, here!
There is something about that crisp, fall air that makes me want to gather with friends and neighbors. You don’t have to tell me twice to throw an event – I am always ready!
This year I decided to throw a backyard movie night with a fall twist! It was SO fun, packed with great food, and friends.
Here’s what I did for our movie night:
The FoodÂ
The menu is essential for any get-together (at least, in my mind it is!) and the perfect fit for a chilly evening is a Chili + Soup Bar!Â
We had two kinds of chili in crock pots – a traditional chili, and PPP’s own delicious White Chicken Chili.
I also made my absolute favorite Beer Cheese Soup (I use this recipe but omit celery and add potatoes!).
We added everyone’s favorite chili and soup toppings like cheese, jalapenos, cilantro, and hot sauces.
We also made the carby sides like soft pretzels for the soup and cornbread for the chili!
It was perfect!Â
For snacking outside with the movie, I set up a charcuterie board packed full of goodies! My favorite part about this board is that it looks complicated but everything was purchased from Costco or Kroger! I decorated the food tables in theme with little fall and Halloween touches.Â
The main attraction for our outdoor movie night menu is the CANDY BOARD! Packed full of everyone’s favorite candies, it was a huge hit and people loved getting to pick and choose their candy.Â
If you have a lot of kids in attendance, you could create this kids snack board too! (or even if you don't – no one is going to want to pass all these treats up!)
I was also lucky enough to know someone who owns that adorable popcorn machine (similar to this one)! It was such a hit!Â
The MovieÂ
We have a company local to us who rents this inflatable movie screen and provides the movie, set up, etc. You can check to see if you have a rental company nearby!Â
Another great option for a backyard movie night (especially if you will use it frequently) is this great mini projector that is perfect for using outdoors or indoors! (IT's on sale right now too – woohoo!)
You can use a white flat sheet up against your house or even grab your own inflatable screen.
This backyard movie night was such a fun evening and might even need to be an annual event!  Hope you enjoy your movie night!
Save this for later!

Hi C! I asked Laura (the author of the post), and she said they’re both from HomeGoods, one in TX and one in CO, but bought over a year ago. Hope that helps!
